The Guardian recently published the erroneous report that mobile manufacturer Nokia had an Android device in the works, but a company spokesperson set the record straight today, responding, "[there is] absolutely no truth to this whatsoever." And in order to reaffirm the need for blushing: "Everyone knows that Symbian is our preferred platform for advanced mobile devices."
That may be the case, but everyone also knows that Symbian is pretty tired and that it doesn't feel all that advanced nowadays. Thankfully, Intel and Nokia are working on a new, light-weight open OS called ofono. Let's hope it represents a giant step in the right direction.
