Motorola DROID X inventory low, but not sold out

From the DROID Incredible, to the EVO 4G, to the iPhone 4, there's one common denominator - they're all in such high-demand that they're in perpetual backorder status. In light of the DROID Incredible shortages, Verizon is doing everything they can to ensure that the DROID X is in stock. In a statement sent to MobileBurn, Verizon officials confirmed that stock is indeed running low or sold out in select areas of the nation, but stated that regular shipments were going out to stores.
"Customers have been enthusiastic about the launch of the Droid X by Motorola and inventory is either out or very low in some parts of the country. Customers may continue to order their phones and our expectation is the phones will ship on or before July 23. We have weekly shipments scheduled."
The official statement comes just after a Verizon tipster told BGR that stores are receiving regular shipments of the device. Given the news, my advice to prospective DROID X buyers would be to call down to your local store today and see if they have additional inventory. Worst thing they can say is no, right?
