Schmidt: 200,000 Android devices being activated daily

There's no denying that Android has experienced explosive growth in the past six months or so, and now Eric Schmidt has dropped the latest numbers on us. Speaking at the Techonomy conference, Schmidt slipped in the fact that there are 200,000 Android phones being activated every day. This means that the number of Android devices activated daily has doubled since a report in May said that there were 100,000 devices activated every day. Check out the full video below.
Considering the rate of hot Android phones being released, I'm not surprised that the platform is experiencing such huge growth. With the impending release of the Motorola DROID 2, sequel to the hottest selling Android device to date, I'm sure sales will continue to climb. Eventually, though, Android's growth is going to slow. The platform is definitely strong and it will continue to get stronger, but realistically, it can't continue to triple sales every three months. That said, how long do you think it'll take Android to reach 300,000 activations per day?
