Nokia N8 delayed in order to make "some final amends" [UPDATED]

Nokia's N8 was supposed to begin shipping at the end of this month, but hopefully you didn't take time off of work for the N8's launch because that date has been pushed back. Nokia announced today that pre-orders for the N8, which have exceeded the expectations of the company, have been pushed back "a few weeks to do some final amends." There's no work on exactly what tweaks Nokia decided to make before launching the handset, but you N8 fans will now have to wait until some time in October to start taking photos with the device's 12 megapixel camera. Nokia's full statement can be read below.
While this news is definitely disappointing for you prospective N8 owners, it's good that Nokia is taking the time to make sure everything works as it should. The company has said on several occasions that pre-orders for the N8 have been stronger than for any previous handset in the company's history, so while many customers are bound to be upset that they have to wait longer to get their phones, I'm sure Nokia has a good reason for delaying the N8's launch. How many of you out there have pre-ordered an N8?
"The amount of preorders has exceeded our expectations and we are working hard to deliver the Nokia N8 to the market. In some markets, we had planned to start delivering the Nokia N8s to our pre-order customers by the end of September. To ensure a great user experience, we have decided to hold the shipments for a few weeks to do some final amends. We're thrilled with the response that we've had to the Nokia N8 and assure everyone who've pre-ordered it already that it'll be worth the wait! We expect consumers to get their Nokia N8s during October."
UPDATE: Looks like Nokia has changed its story slightly, now saying that some N8s will be shipping on time. The company explained further, saying that when a customer will actually receive their N8 will vary by market and operator. At the latest, it seems that N8 customers will be receiving their handsets some time in October. The wait is almost over, N8 fans!
