With the recent news surrounding BlackBerry 6, webOS 2.0, iOS 4, and Android Gingerbread/Honeycomb, sometimes the new MeeGo OS gets a little lost in the mix.  A new video has come out today, though, that should remind you why MeeGo is an OS worth paying attention to.  The video has MeeGo running on a TI OMAP 4 and shows off the Contacts, SMS, Picture Viewer, Settings, and the lock screen.  It's important to note that software in the video isn't complete and doesn't have any sort of graphics or transitions.  Still everything seems to be running smoothly, and the OS looks to be in pretty good shape so far.

I don't know about you, but I think MeeGo looks like it could be a pretty slick little OS when it's finally released. Hopefully it will get a decent amount of distribution to give it a shot of surviving, especially here in the U.S.  After distribution, MeeGo needs to attract some developers to its platform, even if it just gets ports of popular apps from other OSes.  Put all of that together, and I'd say MeeGo would be able to hold its own against the other popular platforms available.
