HP and Palm's webOS now offers over 5,000 apps

Rejoice, webOS fans! HP and Palm's mobile platform now has over 5,000 applications available to its users. We actually heard that webOS had over 5,000 apps back in September, but that number included things like beta and homebrew apps along with everything in the official App Catalog. Just a few short months later, devs have managed to cram over 5,000 official apps onto webOS.
While 5,000 may not be much compared to the current leaders when it comes to sheer number of apps, iOS and Android, but it goes to show that webOS owners still have a healthy selection of apps available to them in the Catalog. Let's just hope that HP/Palm is able to get some new webOS hardware out in the wild soon to jumpstart development for the platform. The Pre 2 is a nice phone and all, but it's not really what many of us were hoping for when we said that we wanted new webOS devices.
