Motorola CLIQ XT will not be upgraded beyond Android 1.5

Not long ago, we heard that the Motorola CLIQ XT's upgrade to Android 2.1 had been pushed back, unlike the Wal-Mart version of the XT which was to remain at Android 1.5. I'm sure you can guess where this is going. Motorola has announced today that, after testing the Eclair update, they've decided that the XT for T-Mobile will forever remain on Android 1.5. The decision reportedly came after extensive testing of the update showed that it would not provide the "optimal customer experience" that Moto wanted.
After the delay of Froyo for the Vibrant and the whole Behold II debacle, it seems that T-Mobile's Android phones have just had a hard time getting updates pushed to them. Still, the blame here likely lies with the manufacturers, not T-Mo, but that doesn't make this news any less disappointing. Here's to hoping that T-Mobile has a plan in place to soothe angered CLIQ XT owners.
