iOS 4.3 code suggests iPhone 5 will sport dual-core A5 processor?Alex Wagner - Senior News Editor
Apple announced last week that the iPad 2 would be packing a dual-core A5 processor, and some new code buried deep inside the newly-released iOS 4.3 suggests that the iPhone 5 will be getting the same treatment. After spending some time picking 4.3 apart, some folks have found references to a device with the model number N94AP, which is believed to be the iPhone 5. Inside the N94AP kernel, the name "S5L8940," which just so happens to be the model number of Apple's A5 chip, makes an appearance.
This certainly isn't the first time we've heard rumors of a dual-core iPhone 5 and, considering that the A5 is powering the iPad 2, it seems like a pretty safe bet that the same chip will make it into the new iPhone, too. The real question is, what other features will get updated in Apple's next-gen iPhone? Redesigned body? Bigger display? Increased storage? Tough to say for sure, but feel free to drop your hopes and expectations in the comments down below.
