BlackBerry Torch 9850 coming to U.S. Cellular August 26th for $199.99Alex Wagner - Senior News Editor
We've already seen all four major U.S. carriers launch or announce plans to launch one of RIM's new BlackBerry 7-powered smartphones, and today U.S. Cellular announced that it, too, will soon be releasing a new 'Berry. The BlackBerry Torch 9850 will be hitting U.S. Cellular on August 26th for $199.99 with a two-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate. U.S. Cellular is also still offering switcher credits through September 8th, which gives any new smartphone buyer a $100 credit for switching to U.S. Cellular from another carrier. You can find the full press release down below.
As a quick refresher, the Torch 9850 features a 3.7-inch 480x800 display, 1.2GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera with 720p video capture, 4GB of built-in storage, and the BlackBerry 7 OS. The 9850 should make a nice addition to U.S. Cellular's BlackBerry lineup, especially for those users wishing for the BlackBerry experience on a full-touch device. Those folks that would prefer a more traditional portrait QWERTY 'Berry experience shouldn't fret, though, as a previous leak showed that the Curve 9350 could be hitting U.S. Cellular in October. Any of you USCC folk out there thinking about picking up the 9850?
