Android Ice Cream Sandwich

Getting impatient while waiting for Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) to arrive? Then you'll be glad to know that we can cross the entire month of December off of the list of potential launch dates for the new operating system. Eric Schmidt revealed in an interview at Salesforce's Dreamforce conference that ICS will be released in "October/November," which is slightly more precise than the Q4 2011 launch window that was given back at Google I/O. The full statement from Schmidt is as follows:

"We have a new operating system, internally known as Ice Cream Sandwich for some reason, which is being released in October/November, which everyone's really excited about."

Not exactly as specific as I'm sure many would've liked, but hey, at least we know that the wait for Ice Cream Sandwich's grand unveiling won't be pushed into December (barring any setbacks, of course). As for hardware goes, we can likely expect the first ICS-powered devices to arrive within a couple of weeks of the OS's unveiling. Want a good way to help pass the time until Google finally unwraps Ice Cream Sandwich? Check out Eric Schmidt himself talking about ICS at the Dreamforce conference below. The good stuff starts at around the 30:25 mark.
