Earlier this week saw Asus officially take the wraps off of the quad-core Eee Pad Transformer Prime, which got the hearts of many an Android fan racing. Unfortunately, alongside announcing the Prime's specs and showing off some photos of it, Asus also revealed that its new tablet won't be launching until December. That's not terribly far off, but it may seem like an eternity to those of us waiting with open wallets. The good news is that the folks at ZTOP recently got their hands all over the Prime and saw fit to share some quality photos, and even a couple of videos, of the Honeycomb slate in action.
In the report, ZTOP describes the Transformer Prime as a fingerprint magnet, but also says that it's very fast (no shock there) and produces good sound. As for the keyboard dock, the site says that it has a thinner base but is basically the same as the one belonging to the original Transformer. ZTOP also claims that the Prime won't fit in the original slate's keyboard dock and vice versa, so those of you hoping to upgrade from the first Transformer and re-use your old dock with the Prime may be out of luck. Check out another pair of photos and a video below, with plenty more images of the Prime available here.
So far it looks like the Transformer Prime is shaping up to be a pretty compelling device. Not only is it the successor to one of the more popular Android tablets in recent memory, but its quad-core processor and the promise of an update to Ice Cream Sandwich make it even harder to resist. There's still no word on when in December the Prime will be launching, but we do know that you can expect to pay $499 (32GB) or $599 (64GB) for the privilege of owning one. What do you all think? Anyone tempting to pick up a Transformer Prime next month?
