T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 710 set to arrive on January 11th for $49.99Alex Wagner - Editorial Director of News and Content
Nokia and T-Mobile are set to host an event tonight where the two companies are expected to announce a version of the Lumia 710 Windows Phone for Magenta here in the U.S., but it seems that they just couldn't wait until this evening to share the good news. Nokia and T-Mobile have officially taken the wraps off of the Lumia 710, announcing that it'll be available in both black and white on January 11th for $49.99 with a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate. This version of the Lumia 710 is largely the same spec-wise as the international version, meaning you're looking at a 3.7-inch 800x480 LCD, 1.4GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera, 720p video capture, 8GB storage, 512MB RAM, and a 1300mAh battery. On the software side of things you can expect Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and a bevy of preloaded apps, including the likes of The Weather Channel, ESPN, T-Mobile TV and Telenav GPS.
Although some folks may be disappointed that T-Mobile's launching the Lumia 710 rather than its high-end brother, the 710 looks like a nice little handset on its own. It's got a fairly simple but still good-looking body, and the fact that it's going for just $50 on contract should appeal to folks interested in picking up a smartphone on the cheap or people that are picking up a smartphone for the first time (the latter of which Nokia and T-Mobile seem to be targeting). What do you T-Mobile users make of the Lumia 710? Anyone thinking about picking one up next month? If you answered the latter question with a "yes," or even just a "maybe," you'll want to check out Aaron's hands-on with the international version of the Lumia 710 below.
