Earlier this morning Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the new iPad had a "record weekend" in its first few days of availability, and now AT&T has issued a statement that echoes Apple's claim. AT&T says that on Friday, March 16th, it set a new single-day record for iPad sales and activations. AT&T didn't provide any sales figures along with its announcement.
One of the major new features of the iPad is the inclusion of 4G LTE connectivity, which is available on both the AT&T and Verizon models of the device. Although folks that do most of their iPadding from the comfort of their living room will likely opt for the Wi-Fi-only versions of the slate, the presence of LTE support on the cellular-enabled models is likely a big draw for anyone that uses their iPad while out and about. We've yet to get any word from Verizon on its iPad sales, but we'll update you if we hear anything. Did any of you pick up a new iPad this weekend? If so, which model did you pick up?
