Motorola XOOM

Good news for owners of the Wi-Fi-only Motorola XOOM. Motorola has begun sending emails out to some owners of the 10-inch slate, inviting them to participate in an "early preview" of a new software update that'll be coming down the pipeline soon. As with other soak test emails that we've seen in the past, there's no mention in this latest bit of correspondence as to what this new update may bring to the XOOM.

So what kinds of goodies might this upgrade include? Well, the WiFi XOOM has already been treated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, so we can cross that off the list. A maintenance release that includes a few small tweaks and bug fixes is definitely a possibility, but we'll have to wait until Moto begins pushing the update before we know for sure. Whatever it is, though, I'm sure Wi-Fi XOOM owners will be glad to see another batch of new software make its way to their tablet. Stay tuned, XOOMers.
