Earlier this month, T-Mobile said that the HTC Sensation 4G's Ice Cream Sandwich update would be arriving "very soon," and now the carrier has offered up a concrete date for the update's push. T-Mobile today updated the Sensation 4G's update support page with a statement explaining that the Android 4.0 upgrade will be made available starting May 16th. The new software is version 3.32.531.14710RD and will bump the Sensation 4G up to Android 4.0.3 and include Sense 3.6, improved text input and spell checking and other tweaks. Here's the full changelog provided by T-Mobile:
Android 4.0.3 / Software version 3.32.531.14710RD
T-Mobile has also updated the Amaze 4G's update support page with information on that handsets Android 4.0 upgrade and a changelog similar to the one you see above. Unfortunately for Amaze 4G owners, there's no concrete rollout date like there is for the Sensation 4G. Instead, T-Mobile promises that the ICS upgrade will be landing "in the coming weeks." And just for you Samsung Galaxy S II owners wondering where your taste of ICS is, our pals at TmoNews have heard that the GSII's upgrade may have been delayed by a kernel issue and has been resent to T-Mobile for approval.
So it looks like Sensation 4G owners are just a couple of days out from their official bump to Android 4.0. That's exciting news for those folk, as the update will not only bring with it ICS and a refreshed Sense 3.6 experience, but also access to Android 4.0-only apps like the Chrome Beta browser. Just so you Sensation 4G folk are ready once Wednesday rolls around, T-Mobile explains that you can request the update from HTC by heading into Menu > Settings > About phone > HTC software updates > Check. All of you Sensation 4G owners can go ahead and do your ICS happy dance in the comments below to help pass the time until your page-a-day calendar reads "May 16th."
