Street View Google Maps iOS web app

iOS 6 users that are unhappy with Apple's attempt at a Maps app got another reason to give the Google Maps web app a go today, as it's not got Street View functionality. Anyone interested in checking out what a particular spot actually looks like can simply point their iOS device to maps.google.com, and then a person icon will pop up in the lower right corner if Street View is available. Tapping that button will bring up Street View in a new page, allowing users to pan around and view their selected locale just as you'd expect.

A report yesterday claimed that Street View would be enabled on the Google Maps web app for iOS devices today, and I'm sure that there are several iOS 6 folk happy to see Google flesh out the web version of its Maps service. The Street View feature works just fine on an iPhone 5, allowing the user to pan and move around without issue. It may not be quite the same as a dedicated Google Maps app on your iOS device, but it helps to make Google's web app a worthwhile alternative to Apple's Maps until Google's native app hits the App Store.
