RadioShack and Target putting an end to their mobile partnershipAlex Wagner - Deputy Managing Editor, News Desk
Looks like this week is kicking off with a break-up, as RadioShack has announced that it and Target have decided to put an end to their mobile partnership. RadioShack had been helping Target to manage the postpaid arm of Target Mobile, but after working since October 2012 to reach a new agreement, it appears that the two companies will instead be splitting up. Telvin Jeffries, EVP at RadioShack, explained that his company needed to be part of a new deal "that would be financially appealing to both companies" in order for RadioShack to continue working with Target. No such agreement could be reached, so RadioShack and Target have opted to "amicably" put an end to their relationship.
RadioShack notes in its announcement that it was not behind the prepaid or accessory portions of Target Mobile, so those areas should remain unaffected. RadioShack did help in running the postpaid part of Target Mobile in 1,500 stores, but once the relationship officially comes to an end on April 8, that'll no longer be the case. At least there'll be no bad blood between the two firms have put an end to their relationship in a civilzed way, right? The full announcement detailing the split can be found at the link below. Have any of you ever done any postpaid mobile shopping at a Target store?
