In week 57 of PhoneDog Media's Official Smartphone Rankings™, the HTC One (global) continued its first place dominance, fending off the popular Samsung Galaxy Note II for another week and picking up steam amongst prospective smartphone buyers.  Rolling out across the world now and coming later in the month to US carriers, the HTC One has gained a solid lead over Samsung’s smartphone, solidifying it as the must-have device of mid-2013.  Samsung is down but certainly not out; can the Galaxy S 4 regain lost ground and return Samsung to the coveted first place spot?

MT PLEASANT, SC – For 57 weeks and counting, PhoneDog Media's Official Smartphone Rankings™ (OSR) has become the gold standard for ranking the market's greatest smartphones by placing votes from readers and experts alike in respective charts each week. For a third week in a row, the Samsung Galaxy Note II fell to second place on both the People’s Choice and Expert’s Choice charts, falling behind the HTC One (global), with 365 votes and an impressive 57 expert points.  Featuring a “zero-gap” unibody construction and coming soon to AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, the HTC One’s combination of premium materials and unique software additions like HTC Zoe and HTC BlinkFeed are drawing interest.

The people ranked the Samsung Galaxy Note II in second place with 228 votes, while the BlackBerry Z10 remained in third place with 131 votes.  The Google Nexus 4 secured the fourth place spot with 80 votes, followed by the Samsung Galaxy S III with 58 votes. On the Expert’s Choice Chart, the Apple iPhone 5 tied for second place with the Samsung Galaxy Note II, with each obtaining 38 points.  In fourth place, the Samsung Galaxy S III with 21 points, while the fifth place award went to the Google Nexus 4 with 17 points.

“Given the worldwide success of the Samsung Galaxy Note II and the global mindshare surrounding the Galaxy brand, HTC One’s continued dominance on the Official Smartphone Rankings is an impressive feat," said Aaron Baker, Editor-in-Chief of PhoneDog.
