Verizon Nokia Lumia 928 white

After more leaks and teasers than anyone could keep track of, the Nokia Lumia 928 for Verizon is now officially official. Verizon just announced that the new Lumia will be launching on May 16 for $99.99 with a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate. Nokia and Verizon also note that, for a limited time, they'll be throwing in a $25 Windows Phone Store gift card for apps and games with every Lumia 928 purchase. Here's a quick rundown of exactly what features the Lumia 928 will sport once it lands on Verizon's shelves:

  • 4.5-inch 1280x768 OLED display
  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor
  • 8.7-megapixel PureView camera with Xenon and LED flashes
  • 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera
  • 32GB built-in storage
  • 1GB RAM
  • 2,000mAh battery
  • Built-in wireless charging capabilities
  • Color options: Black or white

The Lumia 928 is Verizon's second Nokia Windows Phone device, following the Lumia 822 that launched late last year. The Lumia 928 is the quite a bit higher-end than the Lumia 822, though, meaning that Verizon customers that've been lusting after the AT&T-exclusive Lumia 920 since November 2012 can finally get a comparable model on their own carrier.

One disappointing aspect of the Lumia 928 is the fact that it'll only be offered in black or white, especially since the Lumia 822 launched with more color options. However, I'm sure that many Windows Phone fans on Verizon are just glad to be getting a high-end Lumia model to call their own. Nokia's hands-on demo that shows the Lumia 928 in action is available below.

UPDATE: Nokia has revealed that the full retail price of the Lumia 928 is $499.99.

Troy Bauman No sir. Two things wrong with it, one its on Verizon (and I'm not selling my first born just to have cellphone service). And two, its a windows phone.
Noah Spiner Yes yes yes
Vicente Reyes Waiting for the next windows phone for at&t. Android user here, love wp8.
Rich Field Damn why at Windows phones so ugly.
Vicki Figueroa No. Not high end enough.
Alex Villalpando Oh that's a beautiful phone I think I may just get one
Kenny Hilderbrand though my Nokia was great tell started shuting off by it self. after 2 Nokia shutting off went 9X
Stephen Victor Next go-around with WP....no more carrier exclusive b.s. Nokia needs to follow Apple and Samsung by getting the same one hero phone across all major carriers.
Jose Mojica If I were on Verizon it would be a no brainer to get that phone. Beautiful work from Nokia. If they put android on this phone it would be disrespectful to the beauty of the phone.
Nicholas Franko Fortino Nope the only different only the camera with my lumia 920
Cal-Gene Johnson It's a classy easy to use device
Michael Walsh i bet someone will comment saying, only if it had android
