Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD

Remember that Motorola DROID RAZR HD/DROID RAZR MAXX HD soak test that we learned about last week? Today we've finally learned exactly what was inside that update, because Verizon has posted support documents for a new bundle of software for its RAZR HD pair. The update weighs in at 50MB and will bump the phones up to software version 9.20.1.XT926. As for its gooey filling, the 9.20.1 update packs in a couple of app updates as well as several bug fixes. The full changelog:

New versions of applications have been integrated:

  • Backup Assistant contacts
  • SMARTACTIONS™

Improvements have been made to the following areas:

  • GPS has been enhanced for better reliability
  • Random power cycle and resets have been mitigated
  • Data Metering now offers categorized data usage for more accurate reading
  • Connectivity when using Bluetooth has been improved
  • SMS from email notification will be displayed correctly when using Circle Widget app
  • SMS messages will be correctly displayed as “read” once they are read
  • Security has been improved and added to Google Security Patches
  • Support for VMware Horizon Mobile Switch Application has been added to provide a secure, separate environment for your business applications on the same device

Meanwhile, the little DROID RAZR M sibling is getting a new update of its own. This 50MB bundle will bring the DROID RAZR M up to software version 98.16.3.XT907. The contents of the DROID RAZR M update look fairly similar to the one that's headed to the DROID RAZR HD:

Both updates look like nice little bug-fixers that ought to make using these three DROID RAZRs a more enjoyable experience, especially when it comes to the reduction in random power cycles and resets. There's no word yet from Verizon on when these updates will begin rolling out to users, but the rollouts typically begin within a few days of the appearance of these support documents, so keep an eye on your DROID RAZR HD/RAZR MAXX HD/RAZR M if you've got one laying around. Those of you that are feeling impatient can perform a manual check by going into Settings > About phone > System updates on your device.
