In week 73 of PhoneDog Media's Official Smartphone Rankings™, the HTC One kept its first place spot on both the People’s Choice and Expert’s Choice charts.  Praised for its metal exterior and internal specifications, the HTC One is currently available on AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile in the U.S., with upcoming availability on Verizon Wireless.  But its time on top could be limited, as the coming months promise a number of exciting smartphones from HTC, Motorola, Samsung, and Apple.  How long can the HTC One continue its record-breaking first place streak?

MT PLEASANT, SC – July 28, 2013 – For 73 weeks, PhoneDog Media's Official Smartphone Rankings™ (OSR) has been the gold standard for ranking the best smartphones on the market by placing votes from readers and experts alike in respective charts each week.  For another week, HTC’s flagship One smartphone retained the first place positions on both the People’s Choice and Expert’s Choice charts, pulling in a total of 359 votes and 50 expert points.

The Samsung Galaxy S 4 remained in a distant second place on the People’s Choice chart, gathering a total of 127 votes.  Boosted by the news around iOS 7, the Apple iPhone 5 kept its third place on the People’s Choice chart with a total of 114 votes.  The Galaxy Note II dropped to fourth place with 60 votes, and holding the fifth place spot on the People’s Choice chart, the Google Nexus 4 with 48 votes.  On the Expert’s Choice Chart, the Apple iPhone 5 returned to second place with 39 points, while third place went to the Samsung Galaxy S 4 with 37 points.  Joining PhoneDog’s Expert’s Choice chart in fourth place, the 41-megapixel camera-toting Nokia Lumia 1020 with 18 points.  Rounding out the chart in fifth place, the IP67-certified Samsung Galaxy S4 Active with 15 points.

“While the HTC One kept a comfortable lead over its competitors last week, newcomers such the Nokia Lumia 1020 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Active prove that there are loyalties outside of the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4,” said Aaron Baker, Editor-in-Chief of PhoneDog.
