The physical QWERTY keyboard is an increasingly rare beast in the smartphone world, with a growing number of manufacturers opting instead to offer handsets with ginormous screens capable of showing expansive software keyboards. Apparently LG and Verizon believe that the hardware QWERTY's not dead yet, though, as a new image of a smartphone with a slide-out physical keyboard has leaked out.

Referred to by @evleaks as the "LG Enact," this device boasts a five-row keyboard with a dedicated number row and a set of Android navigation keys. Along with that physical QWERTY, the Enact is said to be packing a 4-inch 800x480 display (which could make it attractive to consumers that like smaller displays) as well as a 5-megapixel camera. The Enact's home screen shows that support for Verizon's 4G LTE network is also included.

There's no word yet on how much the keyboard addicts on Verizon will need to pay for their next hit, but it's said that the Enact is just "days away" from hitting Verizon, so it may not be long before we learn more. While the number of consumers that can't live without a hardware QWERTY on their smartphone has likely dwindled in the past year or two, there are still folks out there that long for the feel of physical buttons beneath their thumbs, and so it's good to see that LG and Verizon are prepping a new QWERTY-fied handset. Stay tuned for more, keyboard lovers.
