AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III rear

Just one day after T-Mobile's version of the Samsung Galaxy S III began receiving an update to Android 4.3, AT&T has announced that its variant of the GSIII is getting bumped up to a fresher Jelly Bean as well.

An AT&T support page shows that the Galaxy S III's Android 4.3 update is beginning its push today, Nov. 20, and will be available for download over Wi-Fi. The update weighs between 623MB and 659MB depending on which version of the OS the device is on prior to the update, and once the new software is installed, the AT&T GSIII will be on software version JSS15J.I747UCUEMJ2. AT&T's changelog for the update is as follows:

  • Android 4.3 OS upgrade
  • Galaxy Gear compatibility
  • Samsung Hub Preload
  • Samsung Apps preloaded
  • Samsung Group Play 2.5
  • Support of the following:
    • Share Video
    • Sound & Shot in Camera
    • Group Messaging
    • Connection with gamepad accessory
  • Replace Allshare Play with Samsung Link
  • Easy Mode 2.0

AT&T customers that'd like to manually pull the update can attempt to do so by hopping onto a Wi-Fi connection and then going into Settings > About device > Software update > Check for updates.

Verizon also recently revealed that two of its devices are being bumped up to Jelly Bean. The big red carrier has posted support documents for the Motorola DROID Xyboard 8.2 and DROID Xyboard 10.1 that indicate that the Android 4.1.2 updates for both tablets are ready to go. Here's what anyone still rocking a Xyboard can expect from the update:

  • THE FOLLOWING ENHANCEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE:
    • Overall stability of OS has been improved
    • Wi-Fi has been improved
  • GOOGLE SETTINGS: Manage all your permissions easily in one place
  • GOOGLE NOW: Access Google Now quickly from the HOME key
  • CHROME
  • MOVIE STUDIO: Simple video editing is possible with the Movie Studio app. You can add videos taken on the device or side loaded and add sounds

The update weighs in at 336.4MB and can be pulled by heading into Settings > About tablet > System updates on the DROID Xyboard. We originally got wind of the Android 4.1.2 updates for the DROID Xyboards way back in June, so they ought to make for a nice surprise for anyone that's still got one of the Motorola tablets laying around. If you're rocking an AT&T Galaxy S III or DROID Xyboard, be sure to give me a shout in the comments below once your device's update arrives in your neck of the woods!
