Google Hangouts for iOS update version 2.0

If you're an iOS user that also happens to use Google Hangouts with any sort of frequency, then you should probably grab your iDevice and hit up the App Store. Why, you ask? Because a new version of the Hangouts app for iOS has been released, and this update is a biggie.

Version 2.0 of Google's Hangouts app is now live in the App Store, bringing with it optimizations for the iPad and iOS 7, support for recording and sending video messages and a whole lot more. Here's the full changelog from the App Store:

  • Fully-optimized for the iPad, including picture-in-picture video calling
  • Animated stickers that help you share exactly how you’re feeling
  • Record and send video messages up to 10 seconds long
  • Send a map of your current location
  • Optimized for iOS 7

I told you that this was a big update! This new version of Hangouts is a complete refresh from the previous version, looking much more in line with iOS 7 and even sporting the new-look iOS 7 keyboard (finally!). And then there's the iPad optimizations and support for video messaging and calling, all of which are welcome additions. Overall, Hangouts 2.0 is a pretty significant update that makes the app much more attractive and useful, and it's good to see Google finally bring its messaging app up to date with iOS 7.

You can snag Hangouts 2.0 by hitting up the App Store on your iOS device or by clicking the link below. Once you've updated, be sure to share your first impressions in the comment section below!
