Samsung Galaxy S III

Yesterday AT&T began pushing Android 4.4.2 to its version of the Samsung Galaxy S III, and now it looks like Verizon is starting to do the same.

Verizon has updated its Galaxy S III support page with details on the device’s KitKat update. There are quite a few enhancements included, such as expanded app support for Multi-Window and improved Wi-Fi connectivity. The full changelog is as follows:

KEY DEVICE ENHANCEMENTS

  • Isis Wallet is now preloaded 
  • 2-second press of period key now inputs the Emoticon
  • Lock Screen displays cover file in full view when music is playing

THE FOLLOWING ISSUES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED:

  • Bluetooth connectivity with Motospeak updated 
  • Backup Assistant+ Contacts sync fails have been fixed and connectivity improved
  • Dialer App connectivity has been improved 
  • Read only message sender (not entire message) when using Driving Mode Setting 
  • Data connectivity has been improved

SCREEN LOCK 

  • Call, Messaging, Google and Email Icon have been removed
  • Camera Icon text size and position has been changed

KEYBOARD

  • Set of Emoji icons in Samsung keyboard has been updated

MULTI-WINDOW

  • Multi-Window Tray offers more available apps
    • To access Edit mode, open the Multi-Window Tray, touch More and Edit 
  • Help Tip now offers pop-up
    • Access with a long-press on back key
  • ‘Create Multi-Window Combination’ is now available 

SUPPORT HAS BEEN ADDED FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • ISIS Wallet now supports more ways to “Tap and Pay” 
  • Emergency Alerts 
  • Verizon Remote Diagnostic (VRD) version 2.42.167

IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Wi-Fi stability and connectivity 

THE FOLLOWING CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE:

  • Google+ Photos is now Photos 
  • Google+ User Locations 4x2 widget has been added
  • Play Magazine is now Play Newsstand 
  • Backup Assistant+ Media is now Cloud 
  • S Suggest, S Bookmark 1x1 and Samsung Music 4x1 widget have been removed
  • Music Hub has been removed from Samsung Hub

SAMSUNG KNOX

  • Support for Samsung KNOX 2.0 has been added

Meanwhile, the Verizon version of the Galaxy S4 mini is also set to receive its Android 4.4.2 update. Of course, I’ve got its changelog for you as well:

THE FOLLOWING APPS ARE NOW PRE-LOADED:

  • Verizon Cloud
  • Emergency Alerts 

THE FOLLOWING ENHANCEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE:

  • KNOX 2.0 for Enterprise Support 
  • Enhanced security 
    • Permission added to read/write to ‘My Places’ location setting

THE FOLLOWING ISSUES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED:

  • Wi-Fi network stability has been improved 
    • Auto network switch notifications are now turned off by default
  • Backup Assistant Plus now syncs properly
  • Google Voice Search now operates without force close issues

The updates look like they’ll be available starting tomorrow, June 20. In order to snag them manually, you can head into Menu > Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.
