Sony’s trend of selling its unlocked smartphones directly to U.S consumers continues today with the Stateside debut of the Xperia Z1 Compact.

Sony is now offering the Xperia Z1 Compact in its online store for $549.99. The XZ1C is available in black, pink and white and packs the following specs:

  • 4.3-inch 1280x720 display
  • 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor
  • 20.7-megapixel camera with Exmor RS for mobile sensor
  • 2-megapixel front camera
  • 16GB storage
  • microSD card slot
  • 2GB of RAM
  • HSPA+ 850/900/1700/1900/2100MHz, LTE bands 1/2/4/5/7/8/20
  • 2300mAh battery
  • IP55 and IP58 rated to be waterproof and dust resistant
  • Android 4.4 KitKat

It’s great to see Sony continue to sell its smartphones directly to U.S. consumers, especially since it’s one of the only OEMs to do so. Of course, it’s kind of a bummer that it took Sony six months to begin offering the Xperia Z1 Compact in the U.S., but if you’ve patiently awaiting the device’s Stateside arrival, your time has finally come.
