Amazon’s been getting increasingly involved in the mobile space in recent years, starting with its Android-based Kindle Fire tablets and more recently with its Fire phone. Now it looks like the mega-retailer is going to get a nice mobile boost with the help of a former big-time Googler.

Babak Parviz recently announced that he is joining Amazon. Parviz was one of the first people to join Google’s Project X team and also served as the first lead of the group behind Google Glass.

There’s no word yet on what Parviz will be doing at Amazon, but this is still a huge get for Jeff Bezos and Co. While Google Glass hasn’t yet launched to the public, it’s still a pretty innovative and interesting piece of hardware. Given Amazon’s recent focus on mobile, visual algorithms and image recognition tech, it’ll be interesting to see what comes out of Amazon in the future.
