Moto X+1 prototype front back

Rumors of a Moto X successor known as the Moto X+1 have been swirling for months now, but we’ve never gotten a clear look at the device itself. That may finally be changing today, as a new report claims to have clear photos of Motorola’s next flagship smartphone.

Android Police has acquired photos that are described by the source as a “near-final prototype” of the Moto X+1. The design of the unit is very similar to the current Moto X. However, this unit reportedly has an aluminum edge going around the edges of its body, and  the Motorola logo on its backside appears to be actually set into the phone rather simply printed onto it like the Moto X.

Moving around to the front of the unit, we can see that this purported Moto X+1 has a front-facing speaker like the one found on the Moto E. The rest of the unit’s front looks similar to the Moto X, though the X+1 is said to have a larger 5.1-inch display, up from the 4.7-inch screen found on the Moto X.

The rumor mill has suggested that the Moto X+1 could debut at the end of September, and considering that we’re fast approaching the Moto X’s first birthday, it’s certainly possible that the X+1’s debut could be near. If it is, then the X+1 hardware would definitely be getting close to final.

Of course, its still very much unconfirmed that the device in these photos is the Moto X+1. It’s worth pointing out that this device doesn’t feature a “M” with a circle around it on its face like other Motorola prototypes that we’ve seen. Outside of that, though, this Moto X+1 does have features that we’d expect to see from a follow-up to the Moto X.

What do you think of this device? Will you be happy if this is indeed the Moto X+1?
