Along with its new Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung today introduced a new Gear product, the Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition.

As you might’ve guessed from its name, the Gear VR is a virtual reality headset. Created in collaboration with virtual reality tech company Oculus, the Gear VR uses the 5.7-inch QHD display on the Note 4 to be immersed in whatever content they happen to be viewing. The full rundown on the Gear VR is as follows:

  • 96 degree field of view
  • Focal adjustment for nearsighted and farsighted eyes
  • Touch Pad, back button and volume key
  • Accelerometer, gyrometer, magetic and proximity sensors
  • 16GB microSD card included with 360 degree videos and 3D movie trailers

Users will be able to access content through the Oculus Store. The available offerings will include IMAX film samples, HD music videos and concert footage, a live-action Cirque du Soleil performance and more.

The Samsung Gear VR is only compatible with the Galaxy Note 4 and connects to it over a microUSB 1.1 connection. The Gear VR will be sold in Frost White later this year and will be available from select carriers.
