Ever since Google was launched four years ago, it went through a series of design refreshes. But compared to the different design refreshes from the past, today's new update has given all Play Store family of products a more consistent look. The new look of the apps will be the same bright colors and a triangle background initially seen at the Google I/O teaser page this year. On each app, the icon of the app slightly peeks out to reveal what the app is about.
In a nutshell, the apps for Play Movies & TV, Books, Newsstands, and Games have the same appearance. Meanwhile, the Music icon has dropped the headphones icon in lieu of a round vinyl with a musical note in the middle.
As announced by Google, the newly designed Play icons will be coming to devices and online in the next few weeks. This means that the icons on the Play Store website and app will reflect the new design change when it becomes available. It might also be safe to assume that all Google Play apps on Android and iOS devices will be updated to the new design too.
