3.0 overallCost effective
By Dennis A, posted: Oct 10The good: -Unlimited service & features at $40. per month
-CoverageThe bad: -Phone calls are not always the clearest
-Basic internet surfing, no HTML $40. plan
-Where my old service would work Metropcs don't
-Slow expansion of cellular coverageSummary: Metropcs is on a great start, the phones are decent quality and feature rich. If Metropcs is in your area for the cost of a phone and no contract it's well worth it. Just keep in mind if you travel use their helpful coverage map to find out where coverage is what features are available and where future coverage is expected.
1.0 overallMETRO PCS ARE RIP OFF, SCAM, SCAM BUYER BEWARE
By Susan A., posted: Oct 10The good: Service cheapThe bad: You get what you pay for, Crap
Charge my account twice for over $600.00 and it took me 4 days and about 50 phone calls to get my money back in my account. Phone are cheaper online but they will not approve your order but they still charge your credit card, doesn't make any sense.Summary: Metro PCS customer service are very rude, they hung up the phone on me several times and when you call back to speak to a supervisor they put me on hold for half an hour, then they hang the phone up. Their internet service is slow as a hell, why have internet service if you can never get to the web. If they over charge you and you call to get your money back, they will tell you they do not have any phone # for the corporate office, they will tell you to send an e-mail and someone will call you back. Well, they will not call you back, it took me over 50 calls to get my money back. I tired to buy a phone on the web because it is much cheaper than when you go to their corporate office they can charge you their own fee + the cost of the phone which I think is unfair to customer because we are paying full price for the phones already. So buyer beware that each franchise can charge you additional fee which can vary. All the fees that the local stores charge are free if you order the phone online and customer service do not charge you extra to connect the phones. Metro PCS is a SCAM in America. Their customer service is the WORST possible, they took all the money out of my bank account over $600 and it took me 4 day to get my money back. I will never to business ever again with them.
5.0 overallBest Deal Around!
By Meghan Belanger, posted: Aug 10The good: $40 per month for unlimited talk, text, & internet.
Low prices on good quality phones. The bad: none so far!Summary: I switched to MetroPCS after having several problems with Verizon's customer service, and I couldn't be happier with the switch! $40 a month for unlimited talk, text, and internet, and NO CONTRACT!! You seriously cannot beat that deal anywhere! I always have service and have never dropped a call. In fact, while on a family vacation to a beach in New Hampshire, my parents continually asked to use my phone because their Verizon phones did not have service while my Metro phone did. I have the Samsung Freeform which is a pretty decent phone and was only $80. If you try to get a decent phone from Verizon, you have to be willing to drop at least $200. Every Metro employee that I've spoken with so far has been nothing but courteous, honest, and informative. Seriously guys, make the switch! I will never go back to another carrier where you pay way more for less features and get locked into a 2 year contract!
1.3 overallMetro PCS Tampa - Every call drops
By Annie Doublet, posted: Jul 10The good: What I pay per monthThe bad: What I get for my $50. Dropped calls, sloooow text messaging and voice mails.Summary: Every call I makes drops sooner or later. If it is a short call it will drop at least once. A long call will drop several times. It doesn't matter where I am. Also, when I am on the call people say they can't hear me or I am breaking up.
When I went to the store several people were complaining their call are dropping and not being able to be heard. Metro PCS just replace a phone of a woman. When she made a call in the store and walked into the parking lot the call dropped twice. She had a different type of phone than me, so it isn't the phone, its Metro PCS.
It can take voice mails 3 days to become available. A text message can take 13 to 15 hours.
The customer service person at the Metro PCS store said Metro PCS isn't for everyone. This is the way Metro PCS is. She said her calls drop all the time, too.
1.0 overallCustomer Service is The Worst!
By Martha Dickey, posted: Jun 10The good: Cheap phone. The bad: Setting up was a nightmare. Service is not very good.Summary: We ordered the phone and set up the service as directed. Initially the phone worked, but then suddenly stopped after two hours. We were unable to resolve this on the phone, the recording claimed we had not paid for service. After being on hold for an interminable length of time, I finally went into the store to deal it. The store personnel said that this often happens when the account is opened on the phone and called the billing department while I waited. Again the phone worked briefly then stopped. Again the message that we had not made the payment for service. We went back to the store, but the agents were seemingly powerless to fix the billing error in misapplying the funds. In desperation, we paid an additional $40 to get the phone working. The first $40 has still not been refunded or posted to our account. I now have several case numbers referencing "research" claims, and am told to call back in 72 hours only to endure more hold time, receive another case number and more profuse apologies. They can never "find" the first payment and do not even check the previous research case numbers. They will only acknowledge that I made the first payment when I physically go to the store with the document showing the METRO PCS withdrawal from my bank account in hand. I'm thinking this is deliberate by Metro PCS. "$40 period?" In fine print perhaps it says: As many times as it takes for the phone to work.
4.0 overallwhats your problem?
By joe white, posted: Jun 10The good: cheap plans, great phones (finesse)The bad: so far, noneSummary: look folks, the bottom line is read everything. i haven't encountered the problems listed here(knock on wood). but one thing is for sure if you're the type that travels alot. i suggest not using this service. me i'm in NYC. i use the samsung fineese and i love my phone. i haven't had a dropped call, misconnection or slow internet. but i know if i got to go to a region that the service does not work, you can all ways add on to the plan. it really goes back to you, the consumer to be informed. the reps at the brooklyn site i went to listen and answered all my questions. i can however understand the aggrevation in dealing with crappy C.S. i dealt with all the major carriers and i gave them all the middle finger and took my hard earned money elsewhere. peace to all and good luck in the search for the phone company that fits your needs.
1.0 overallTotal Scam Artists
By johan grissom, posted: Apr 10The good: NoneThe bad: No service what so ever. Dishonest.Summary: My Phone was stolen . It was a 3 Hour long nightmare trying to turn off the phone .They are the rudest people I have ever dealt with . Good luck at talking to a human being. If you can talk to one they will have a heavy accent and barely speak english. I asked to talk to a supervisor and she hung up on me.Their website is just as useless.Their store personnel are scam artists. They say one thing and do another. I did not receive one thing that I had signed up for .they put me on a plan that I did not ask for (twice the price of the one I had requested). When I confronted the sales person who scamed me.He threatened to call immigration on my roommate who was with me as my witness. My roommate is hispanic and a US citizen, also his english is excellent. The sales person was Indian and his english was heavily accented. I live in a predominately hispanic neighborhood.I am white with Blond hair. This store was in this neighborhood. of Nor Cal.I later found out through the attorney I hired that this is the Companies standard practice. If you live in a neighborhood that they deem as lower income( I am definitely not) they will intentionally try to scam you. If you complain ,they threaten you. Their Corporate Personnel are the same.I went to several other stores I was ignored, but no threats.Luckily my Ipod records Audio & Video. Make sure you have witness when dealng with these people It took 2 days of hell raising and a attorney to get them to change it to the Plan I had requested. The past three months has been nothing but a living hell dealing with these people. I have left Metro PCS for good.
2.3 overallBUYER BEWARE
By Jeff Fork, posted: Feb 10The good: Affordable. Now they offer a $40 outthe door plan, that includes tax and other nuisance fees except the service charge by satalite stores. The bad: Being an american born to speak ENGLISH, their CS repr. are very hard to understand. They talk fast with broken english. Seems no one speakes the home land language any more. The satilite stores will try to rip you off. Try to deal with the corp. stores.Summary: Good plans for those who have POOR credit, no bank acct etc. Pay to talk or your line is cut. Avoid the non corp stores. One example the store employee was trying to sell a kryocera phone for $114. Same one you can buy on line from corp. for #30.00.
1.0 overallWorst service, worst cellphone company I've ever come across
By chewed pup, posted: Feb 10The good: cheap unlimited plan. no contractThe bad: for the first week, my husband (on metropcs) could not call me (on sprint). It took them 8 days to fix that. Then he went to Annapolis and Washington DC where there should be coverage - there wasn't. He has never been able to use call waiting - turns out his phone is defective. He asked them well could he upgrade please? They said sure but won't give him a dime of a refund. And we're only three weeks into it. Summary: In the three weeks we've had Metro PCS, we have HATED them. Firstly, in the first week my husband had his phone, he could NOT call me (I"m on a sprint network) - there was a problem with metropcs cell towers. WHen he needed to call me, he had to pull over to a payphone to call me. His employee, also on metropcs, could not call me on the sprint network. On the 8th day, however, they fixed the problem. Then my husband went to Washington DC and Annapolis and could not get a signal at all. Metropcs's response? Well, maybe he should try roaming, at an extra charge. I said "but you're supposed to WORK in that area" - their response "oh well, too bad." Thirdly, all this time he has not been able to use call waiting. When he pressed the talk button, he cut everyone off - which is most frustrating and he lost customers because of this. He finally took the phone back and surprise surprise, they said it's faulty - so they are ordering a new one. He asked if he could upgrade to a better phone, and they said sure, but we will not give you ANY money back on this old phone - it's USED! He said but it's faulty - and after all the problems we've had, why can't you help me = I want to pay a lot more money and get a better phone but you MUST give me some credit for this phone - they refused. I spoke to Jose Fernandez in the store in Hialeah - a more useless cretin you could not find anywhere on this planet. I told him all these problems, and he said "I'm so sorry", so I said "that's nice, but what are you going to do about this?" and he said "Nothing." THEY COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. They have a good monthly plan if you don't mind dropped calls and terrible reception and no signal when you leave Fort Lauderdale or MIami - but they are just awful. The worst customer service in the entire world - definitely the worst experience I have had. I remember the very next day after my husband first got this plan and the new phone - we were unhappy with the phone and we wanted to take it back - and my husband had used 1 hour and 12 minutes of talk time - AND THEY SAID NO WAY! YOU CANNOT RETURN THIS PHONE, you only have 59 minutes of talk time to use before it becomes a USED PHONE and we will not take it back. Seriously, I cannot use the language I"d like to use to describe the services of Jose Fernandez and his boss, Richard, at the Hialeah store, more useless, non-caring, impartial, pathetic people you could not wish to meet. I rue the day we EVER switched to metro pcs and will be canceling at the endo f this month. AVOID AVOID AVOID. I have to say I love Sprint - but I wish they had a cheaper "unlimited talk" plan, then my husband would switch to that, but as it is, they are too expensive. You get what you pay for. Metropcs is cheap and 80% of the time doesn't work! GARBAGE. AVOID
