1.0 overallRun!
By Angela D, posted: Aug 07The good: My husband is with Sprint/Nextel... other than that... ???The bad: Tomorrow I am finally going to breaking my contract with Nextel... and the opportunity has not come soon enough! The only reasons I have stayed as long as I have (about 2 years)... 1: my husband is stuck with this carrier due to work, 2: I did not want to shell out the $200 to break my contract, and 3: I was 'tricked' into renewing my contract.
Where do I begin... horrible customer service. When my husband and I moved here and were going to switch to Nextel we wanted to keep our numbersSummary: I have done alot of research in the past couple of weeks, as I have been wanting to switch for a very long time now. Nextel/Sprint continually rank very low in all nearly polls and in all categories of ratings... from online polls to Consumer Reports (they do an annual issue dedicated to cell phones & coverage... most recently January, 2007). In other words, I am not in the minority in my bad experiences, so if you don't feel like I have given enough valid examples as to why you should RUN! then read up on it yourself! My husband is also just as unhappy with Nextel... the covereage, the services, the prices, the customer service, etc, etc... but as I said, he's stuck due to his work. It will actually hurt us to talk to each other now, as we will not be able to use any sort of mobile-to-mobile minutes, but it's going to be worth it to me!
1.0 overallBad service
By John D Pulse, posted: Jul 07The good: noneThe bad: drops calls
does not have service in most of United States
Does not send a listing of calls with the billingSummary: I am very dissatisfied with Nextel. Rep told me when I changed over from Sprint that anywhere Sprint worked, Nextel would also. It does not work many miles out of Clinton, MO where I reside. I am completely unhappy with the phone and the service.
1.0 overallBad coverage, Bad customer service
By Ryan Budzinski, posted: Jun 07The good: Push to TalkThe bad: Coverage and Customer ServiceSummary: After being with Nextel for the past three years, I will no longer be a customer of theirs. I am constantly getting dropped calls/system busy messages. Also they got me to renew my contract last year with the promise of an improved coverage area, it the coverage did not improve in six months they would waive my cancelation fee, well it did not improve, and when I asked to be let out of the contract they had no record of a promise to waive the $400 fee for both lines. This is where the poor customer service comes in. After dealing with five different people I ended up being told to give them a few more "weeks" and I would see a differnce, agian this did not happen. I am now three weeks away from my contract being up and when I asked to cancel my account I was told it would still cost $400!!! They even told me if I cancel ONE day early that I would be charged the full $400!!! How can a company get away with this? Thank God only two weeks to go and then they are Bye Bye.
1.0 overallNextel downhill since Sprint merger
By Donna Wright, posted: Jun 07The good: Direct connectThe bad: Dropped calls, price, customer service and service in generalSummary: Customer for 9 yrs with 5 phones, since merger everything has gone downhill and fast. Their best feature (direct connect) is no longer enough to keep me, I am switching. Customer service is horrible! Also, as of next year they lose the direct connect feature, so don't think of renewing because of this feaure.
5.0 overallLove it
By Nicole Baker, posted: May 07The good: I love the ptt. It's my favorite feature. I have never experienced a dropped call. The bad: maybe it's my particular phone but the charge doesn't stay for very long.Summary: Overall I have no real complaints about my service. I think there one of the cheapest dealers around. I love the convenience of being able to pay my bill online. Thanks!!
1.0 overallNextel service in Dayton Ohio and they have no coverage
By Steve Moyer, posted: Apr 07The good: NoneThe bad: No data coverage, no talk coverage, Poor customer service and uneducated staff. Summary: I use Nextel service in Dayton Ohio and they have no coverage and if you want to use the web features you better be setting under a tower to get data connections. I have the push to talk feature which make no sense because to limit your self to one way communication using the same cell tower vs. 2 way communication so to me it makes no sense to have PTT feature on a cell phone. A phone book or speed dial would do the same quick connection but you would have 2 way communications. Trust me the Push to Talk (PTT) feature is marketing pitch. The company I work for all use the PTT feature and except for those individuals who thought it would be a good idea no one else uses it.
It’s just a marketing ploy. Customer service is bad. Even the individuals who set up our business account with Nextel will tell you that. My one experience with them resulted in numerous calls to find some one who could fix my problem only to be told that they are trying to expand data coverage to encompass my work area. I have been forced to use this thing for 3 years and still no consistent Data service. I have petitioned the power that be to move to a better service provider and we will be doing that in August.
1.7 overallnextel
By joe bahnweg, posted: Mar 07The good: unlimited mobile to mobileThe bad: dropped calls/system busy try again later. poor to no coverage at my home. Three days out of the last week, system busy. What gives? When my contract is up I'm switching.Summary: I've been using this phone for 1.5 years and service has steadily slid to poor.I'm speaking not of the phone, but the dropped calls and the system busy message.
4.3 overallPros & Cons
By Michael Smith, posted: Mar 07The good: Nextel Walkie Talkie, GPS SolutionsThe bad: NothingSummary: Nextel Sprint is the greatest communication solution alive. Nobody else in the marketplace can deliver an instant communication solution like Nextel. I have also implemented a GPS solution that saves my business thousands of dollars monthly. This service pays for itself and provides a return of around 800% monthly. By using Sprint Nextel I continuously put money back into my pocket on a daily basis
2.0 overallNot a good value
By Michelle Canfield, posted: Feb 07The good: Unlimited incoming, unlimited direct connectThe bad: Crappy internet browser, direct connect has horrible coverage, costSummary: We have been experiencing issues with direct connect for the whole time we've had our phones. We constantly get interruptions and told that the user is busy, ect, even when being in the middle of a conversation. IMO, that nullifies the point of unlimited direct connect.
I've used the internet service they offer for 3 months, and I cancelled it. It was horrible. Sites I can log into online no problem, I was unable to on my phone.
I hate the text messaging system too. I can recieve text messages, even though I don't want to, and I cannot send any, even though I want to sometimes.
Our contracts will be up in April and we're thinking of switching to Centennial.
1.7 overallBye Nextel!
By D. J. Abbotts, posted: Jan 07The good: Nation-wide walkie talkieThe bad: Coverage, customer serviceSummary: They treat their long term customers like dirt. I had five phones for my company. At the end of my contract, I will have none.
