2.0 overallJust say no
By aaron rice, posted: Jan 10The good: low cost, friendly costumer service reps...not much moreThe bad: almost everythingSummary: My family and i have been with ntelos for five years and we have had nothing but problems. I have had many problems with my phones and nothing is ever done. I currently have a blackberry curve that i have had nothing but problems out of. I am a little over one year into my contract so i am out of warranty, and now they could care less if my phone is fixed or not. i called in today to try to get a problem resolved and by the time i was done i had been one the phone for fourty minutes and all they got accomplished was making me lose everything on my phone, telling me that my phone could not be fixed, and telling me that my only options were to A: do an insurance claim ($100) B: buy a new phone at retail price (well over $400) or C: deal with it (priceless). So after five years of service they will not work with me or try to help me at all. Thank you Ntelos, thank you.
5.0 overallGOOD COMPANY.....LOCAL....EXCELLENT COVERAGE
By L Gee, posted: Nov 09The good: Excellent Coverage
Sales Dept. Is fantastic.....AWESOME DEALS!!!!The bad: 24 Customer Service/TechSummary: I'm a real problem customer.....I've destroyed 3 blackberry curves since my account opened in September....nTelos has replaced it 2 times......my stupid tail didnt get insurance and every time sales has replaced it for free...this time I paid full retail and they still found me a deal ....on this the 3rd blackberry....starla is awesome...ask for her.....not only have they replaced out of warranty and non insured phones they were helpful and friendly!!
Excellent coverage and great data speeds.....ALL over hampton roads....I dont do much traveling but Im thrilled with my local coverage coming from VZW I feel the coverage is better than VZW....plus I get the satisfaction of knowing Im supporting a Virginia Business.
They also have some fantastic devices releasing in 2009-2010 like the htc hero and blackberry tour!!!
Try em out you get a 30 day and I think youll like em alot...great prices good support and helpful sales & tech staff
2.0 overallGood Service, Bad With Smartphones
By Tyler Lewis, posted: Sep 09The good: You get an english speaking person when calling tech support, customer service was great. The bad: Blackerry worked for crap, Techs couldnt figure out the problemSummary: I had them for less than a week. I got a Blackberry Curve and at first loved it. Fast forward 3 days. The internet quit working. Called Techs and they said that it was on my end, and to make sure I had a good signal. I went to the base of one of their towers and it wouldnt access the internet except very intermitently. If you need a basic phone they're great! if you want a smartphone, go elsewhere.
1.7 overallOne Year Customer
By Dan Matullo, posted: Sep 09The good: For the most part the reception is great, very few dropped calls. More bang for you buck. The bad: I should have gotten rid of them during the 30 day trial. 2 year contract agreed on the monthly fees then after 2 months they went up without telling me on the unlimited text. Every time I call customer service I get different answers to the same 12 months of problems. Why am I being charged for using DATA when I am not using it. I even get charged when the phone is off and I am sleeping at 11:30 at night. They can't give me an answer. So now I had them shut the DATA off which prevents picSummary: Go with a bigger company it is worth paying more. I will switch after my 2 year contract runs out.
5.0 overallQuite Pleased (Just wanted the EnvTouch)
By R. Kaye, posted: Sep 09The good: Best customer service, literally. Lowest rates. Allow their customers to change plan details in order to save on expenses whenever needed. The bad: While selection is improving, not the best array of phonesSummary: Having been with nTelos for several years, I can tell you exactly why I have stayed with them: the best customer service around and low rates. I stuck with them when their coverage wasn't the best compared to others. But now, at least in my area, nTelos coverage is on par with the other CDMA providers. In fact, recently I tried a cell phone through Verizon, the LG EnvTouch. That phone did not pick up signal when my nTelos Finesse did. Needless to say, I cancelled the Verizon line and added another line to my existing account at nTelos. Also, my sister has a line through AT&T, and while she does receive cell phone service where I have no signal, her phone is constantly dropping calls in areas where my phone does not. My only gripe, is that I couldn't have an EnvTouch with my nTelos service. If they could get a better array of phones, I would be COMPLETELY satisfied.
5.0 overallLISTEN
By NA NA, posted: Aug 09The good: nothingThe bad: everythingSummary: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Dont expect a FREE phone to get the best reception just bc youre too cheap to dish out a better phone will good reception. Reps are NOT able to do EVERYTHING and are not at fault if you "accidentely" access the internet. Dont be dumb-or cheap and your service will be great.
5.0 overallHave been with then for 12 years - love it.
By J Coates, posted: Jul 09The good: Great customer service, best rates in town, no surprises on bill. The bad: Don't have the latest and greatest in handsets.Summary: Been with them since 1997. Never had a surprise on my bill or a problem that the 611 customer service person couldn't help me with. The regional manager is wonderful, and I recommend that if you aren't happy, ask to speak to someone higher up in the organization. I love them and am going to renew for another 2 years next month.
4.7 overallGlass Half Empty or Half Full?
By Suzanna and Roger Wimbush, posted: Jun 09The good: Reps that will go out of their way to get you the service that you demand or want, go by polices and regulations. The bad: Slow at getting better phones, small companySummary: How dare you guys talk about a cell phone company as great as nTelos. Maybe if you use that mind of yours, you can see that almost every carrier DOES NOT own the tower. So if you are on Verizon, they split that tower with other carriers in order to keep cost and market down. All carriers do this so your a dummy if you don't realize it. Also I have been a loyal customer of nTelos for about 13 years and never had a problem. Maybe if you go into a store and talk to these human beings like people and stop putting the blame on them for your life you would be fine. Do your judging and you see that most carriers are the same. But nTelos still have the lost prices around. If you have shot up credit, GO TO NTELOS. The prepay is the best way to go. Talk unlimited local, unlimited w/t long dis+ text, unlimited w/t long distance text pics data 411.....Get out of here...Go NTELOS. Yall ROCK!!
Great deals since PRIMCO and super deals with nTelos.
1.3 overallI hate Ntelos. They don't keep their word.
By Sonya D, posted: May 09The good: Nope, not really nay pros except a free crappy phone. The bad: The amount of time I had to spend to get the deal they said they'd give was not worth it. They change policies on you without telling you. CS reps agree to change things and then never do.Summary: I used Ntelos when they had a "Try our service free for 30 days, if you don't like it pay nothing!" sort of a 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy. I had never owned a cel phone before. I asked they lady "Hey if I don't end up using a cel phone and decide it's not for me can I return it and pay nothing?". She said "Yes." I asked it repeatedly and still got a yes. Fast forward 20 days later. No I don't want a cell phone, at least not a long-term contract one because I almost never use it. I tell her and she charges me a $75 restocking fee for my Free Phone! I pay it and then tell my husband, the lawyer who deals in fraud. So he goes and asks fro a refund of the price, pointing out their policies on the free phone trial. After three seperate visits and phone calls I get my $75 back. They make it as horrible as possible. Then after I've turned in the phone I still get a bill for next months *and* last months' service. My husband again goes and points out - I wasn't satisfied therefore it's free. They say we still ahve to pay for our service we used. There is a giant sign on the door saying "If you don't liek it, it's free!". It is a lie.
My husband called many people and returned to the store several times and mostly we just refused to pay the bill. Eventually they admitted we owe them nothing and removed the charges. Guess what happened the next month? Yep we got another bill. Which we then had to take to them and point out we no longer had the phones, were not using them and owed nothing.
I hate Ntelos. No one should trust them or use them. FULL OF LIES!!
1.0 overallNTelos is HORRIBLE!!!
By Serrano Leigh Anne, posted: Apr 09The good: Cheap(you get what you pay for!!!!)The bad: Terrible customer service, terrible phonesSummary: I have been with Ntelos for 5 years and now can't wait to be out of my contract. The cheap rates no longer make up for being treated like sh-t. There are hidden fees for EVERYTHING, and now they want to CHARGE me to renew my contract. BYe-bye Ntelos!!!
