4.5 overallCheap but great
By Will Powter, posted: Oct 10The good: Super low price for a phone- $10
Double Minutes For Life
$20 for 3 months of serviceThe bad: Bad image
Not a modern phoneSummary: It's a great value for someone like me. I don;'t need to talk alot or text but need to be reached wherever I go, so I got a Tracfone for $10 with the doubled minutes for life and it's a really great value.
My friends laugh at me because it's not an iphone or whatever but when I tell them what I pay they shut up! Ha!
1.3 overallTracfone Stinks
By Michelle Kinzinger, posted: Oct 10The good: none over any other prepaidThe bad: Poor customer service, Doesn't back up the product, poor connection, ridiculous hold timesSummary: I would not ever use Tracfone again. We had tracfone for 4 years my husband used this as his business phone. While trying to port the # to a new phone they lost the # and reassigned to someone else. We lost alot of business. they did not offer any type of compensation for all the money and clients we lost due to this. They gave me a new # which they disconnected after a week because their system screwed up. Again we lost business and they gave me 100 minutes big deal. I am not impressed. The customer service stinks they lie to you and put you on hold for hours. I was on hold for 14 hours over 6 days with who knows how many different people that you can barely hear through their poor connection. I recomend you stay as far away as possible from this company unless you want to waste money and time.
5.0 overallGreat Prepaid Service!
By Jenny Leigh, posted: Sep 10The good: Brand name phones for low pricesThe bad: None :)Summary: The Tracfone service has been nothing but perfect to me. Offering brand name phones, low prices, super savings each month, nationwide coverage, it's the whole package deal. Switching to this prepaid service was one of the smartest decisions I have made and definitely reccommend it to all!
1.3 overallAvoid TRACFONE like the plague!!!
By Joseph Corcoran, posted: Sep 10The good: coverage is ok at bestThe bad: Customer service is the worst i have ever had to deal with! non-english speaking know-it-alls. they are the worst excuse for help i've ever encountered. Use Cricket instead.Summary: After trying to find my wife's cust ID # online, their website is terrible by the way, I was forced to call the 800#. what a mistake. The operators don't speak english very well, don't understand what you are trying to say, and have no manners. I would use ANY prepaid wireless service before I used tracfone again
1.0 overallFive hours later . . .
By Ann Harris, posted: Sep 10The good: There is not ONE.The bad: Too many to mention all of them.Summary: Why do I feel like I'm dealing with a Third World Country? OH . . . because I AM! Right. For the last year, every time I added minutes to my phone, my credit card was charged, but the minutes were not added. I had to call Tracfone, was on the phone for at least an hour, and had to add 60+ code numbers into the phone. I tried to tell them the phone was defective. Finally, last week, they admitted there was something wrong with the phone (2-1/2 more hours that day). They assured me they would transfer my phone number to the new phone. After 1-1/2 hours, my minutes were transferred (though one minute short), but my phone number was different. I accepted the new phone number to avoid having to deal with them anymore. Ah, but fate interjected! This afternoon, my expiration date suddenly changed to TODAY! Not 1/15/11 like it was earlier. Wow. Finally (something I should have done months ago), I called the “corporate” headquarters (where English clearly isn’t their first language), but my problem was finally resolved (I hate to even say that). They were trying to be kind and extended my service to 4/5/11. I just hope I use up my minutes way before then so I can move on to AT&T!
1.0 overallBEWARE OLD PHONES
By JAMES BAKIS, posted: Sep 10START YOUR PHONE IN THE STORE. IF IT IS OLD AND HAS A WAY BACK DATE, DON'T TAKE IT. I GOT ONE FROM 2001, A SAMSUNG 105...MANY EMAILS AND HUNDREDS OF CODE NUMBERS LATER...NO DICE,NO PHONE.
4.5 overallBest deal for seniors
By Margaret Leigh, posted: Sep 10The good: Cheap. Good nationwide coverage. Phone with big keys and display. The bad: Not a phone for heavy usersSummary: My husband and I finally found the right phones and a plan that costs under $7 a month. We both got the new Tracfone senior value cell phone with big keys and a big numbers on the lighted display. Neither of us is hearing impaired, but our phones are hearing aid compatible, which might be of interest to other seniors. Neither of us uses our phones much so Tracfone makes the most sense for us. Another great feature this senior phone has is 911 location emergency assist. We haven't had our phones long, but so far we're happy with them. The reception is surprisingly good.
1.0 overallTracfone - charges you for 611 calls
By Jim Mooney, posted: Sep 10The good: noneThe bad: Tracfone is rotten. I got the phone. The site is messed up. When I dialed 0 it printed 2580. I called 611 to correct it and halfway into the call they tell me I'm being CHARGED for the repair call. This isn't supposed to happen. 611 repair calls are supposed to be free. I don't have another phone to call from right now. I got the tracfone because my regular phone quit. Sheesh. They stink. Robbers. Person could barely speak anyway. Problem still not fixed.Summary: Tracfone charges for 611 repair calls, unlike most other carriers. Their website doesn't work right and the customer service people can't speak English.
4.7 overallI have a Tracfone and Love it
By Gary Jones, posted: Aug 10I love my tracfone because of its great reception and service. I also love my tracfone because of its great rates.
4.7 overallTracfone is the low-cost cell phone king!
By Samuel Turner, posted: Jul 10The good: Keep phone active for as little as $7 a month.
Great coast-to-coast network coverage.
No-nonsense service with zero hidden fees. service charges etc.The bad: Very basic handsets - no smartphones.
Not for high usage persons.Summary: Tracfone is still the cheapest way to keep a cell phone active and in minutes in the States. Their coverage is still the best out of all the prepaid carriers.
This phone will start to get expensive if you use hundreds of minutes per month but for occasional users or those wanting to keep an emergency phone this is the best way to do it.
