AWFUL Customer Service!!!

Posted on: January 19th, 2013 by Kelly Mann

I would just like to say that I am VERY unsatisfied with the customer service, or lack of I should say. We have been trying to contact someone for days now as to why our bill is so much higher, and how to get it changed. We have been on the phone and in the stores and keep getting thrown back to the store or to call. We have been loyal customers for over two years together, and me for even longer. I just feel as if they don't care whether people stay with them or not. We got no notification that our bill would be going up, and still have not gotten a reason as to why is has and how to get it back to where it was, or if we even can. Then we went to the store to get a new phone as mine is junk, and find out that we can get the activation fee waved if we order online but for two new phones, which we will be PAYING for, they are going to charge us $60 to get TODAY!!! What is up with that? So then the store tells us to call the support center, and we do that, and what do they say? It is up to the store manager... where we just came from. So now, after three days of this, I have to go out of town tomorrow and have no phone in case of emergency to use. Then, when we went into the store, we saw a sign where you could get 100 dollar trade in for our phone.. The guy at the store said they couldn't do it because it had to be a new line, so he actually told us to cancel our account and open a new one under my wife's name. Really? Come on!

Been a customer for many years, but now just switched companies

Posted on: January 4th, 2013 by Pam Zielinski

I have been a US Cellular customer for years and never really shopped them. However, when I recently wanted to upgrade my phone to a smart phone, they said I was not eligible yet. Really? You tell me when I'm eligible? Also, with the new company I just signed up with, I will get new WIFI and more texting and pay $40/month less than with US Cellular.

Uninformed salespeople, poor customer and phone service

Posted on: September 1st, 2012 by Christopher Lindsey

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 from US Cellular because my employer had a 15% discount. I went to the store, confirmed this, and purchased my phone. They asked me when I would like my billing cycle to start and since I'm paid monthly, I asked for the bill to be due the day after pay day. I thought everything was good, brought home my rebate form ($100 for the phone), and that was that. Until... Two weeks later I received a letter in the mail stating that I was not eligible for the 15% discount because my plan did not total $69.99. I was confused because I was paying $75/month, so I called them up to find out what was going on. It turns out that data plans don't count; it's only voice plan amounts that will net you a 15% discount. I told the woman on the phone that this was the whole reason I chose US Cellular and their salespeople had said that I was eligible, but she said that there was nothing I could do. Why US Cellular feels that it has to stick it to single parents I don't understand. I was annoyed. Now I was paying more than I expected, and I had purposely bumped the data plan up to meet that total. I paid it for nothing. Then I started filling out the rebate form. My phone model wasn't even listed, so again I called. They said to just pencil in the model name. I'm glad I called. Maybe it's a trick to make people not submit rebates. Then my first bill came due... and I missed it. I assumed it was going to be due the day after pay day like the salespeople said, so I hadn't even bothered to open the bill that came in the mail until I received a text message from US Cellular saying that I was late. It turns out that they set the date to be two days *before* my paycheck. I wrote a scathing letter to US Cellular about it on their Web site and they tried calling me the next day. Unfortunately, the person calling me mumbled and I can't understand a thing they said in my voicemail message. I don't know if I'm supposed to call back or if he was calling me names. The phone service doesn't work in my house either, so I have to go outside. When I leave the house I often get a sudden barrage of waiting text messages. I've tried logging into my account online to make changes to my plan, but they won't let you do it unless you have your paper bill in front of you. If only there was some other shared piece of information that I could use to identify my account, LIKE MAYBE A PHONE NUMBER. Dare to dream. On the road the phone works well and the phone itself is excellent. US Cellular, not so much. I came to them from AT&T, but I'm going back when this contract is over. I never thought someone would be worse than AT&T, but that is one thing US Cellular managed to do.

Loyal to a T

Posted on: August 18th, 2012 by Chelsy Goode

My family has been with U.S. Cellular for YEARS and I mean years and have never had any problems with the customer service or service quality. In truth we live in the mountains and I get better signal on my phone then my friend does on her Verison phone. As for the internet phones I JUST upgraded my phone to a huawei Ascend 2 a couple days ago so i dont have a strong oppinion on it yet. I'm just saying you can read all the reviews you want but the best thing to do is to try it for yourself. I personally love U.S. Cellular and suggest it strongly to my friends. I went traveling to the east coast two years back and went all up and down the coast and had reception ALL the way. As well as it didn't charge me extra roaming fees. Personally I love it. Sincerely, Loyal to a T FYI for all you out there no phone company is perfect. There will ALWAYS be problems no matter what one your with.

Doesn't work very well

Posted on: April 6th, 2012 by Anonymous

Yes, it is cheap but the phone veriety sucks, when you travel 1hr away your in roaming or no coverage. If you have a 3G phone and you go out of town you go down into 1G. Us cellular is not worth it

I hope US Cellular wakes up before it's to late ..

Posted on: April 1st, 2012 by Jim Fields

I've been with US Cellular for almost 10 years and have watched its customer service steadily drop . I recently had a charge on my bill that shouldn't have been there , the customer no-service rep argued with me and refused to let me speak to his supervisor then hung up on me. . And what's with all the cellular companies wanting to change you to use your phone as a wifi hotspot ? If I'm paying for 5 gigs and only using 1/10 of that . Isn't that like buying a case of coke but only being allowed to drink 3 of them ?

Customer service is no longer good

Posted on: December 29th, 2011 by Anonymous

I've been with US Cellular for many years and have not only selected them as a carrier for my employer but also recommended them to many friends and family members because of their strong customer service. As a regional carrier, their coverage has never been the greatest and their phone offerings are behind the curve and sometimes really disappointing in quality, but their superior customer service was what kept me as a loyal customer. Until recently. It seems they are now spending a lot of money advertising about their happy customers and apparently a lot less money on actual customer service. Today when I had an issue, I was transferred several times, treated with alternating rudeness or apathy and no one cared to fix my issue. And, in fact, they never did fix it. Even when I asked to speak to a customer service supervisor. Bottom line? The only thing they really had going for them was their great customer service. Since they don't have that anymore, there is no reason to consider them. Not to say some local places may not still have good customer service - but as a caution, their phone support center is now right up there with the worst of the worst.

Solid performer

Great customer service, though you may have to wait, as they're probably thoroughly dealing with someone else's issue. They have progressively been getting better Android phones, prices are reasonable, upgrade time to a new phone is very quick. 5GB data cap is acceptable compared to other providers and they have AMAZING coverage.

VOICE MAIL

Posted on: September 30th, 2010 by Mike Abrams

The good: Been with this company for more then 15 years and always had great service, even if I traveled 1/2 across US.The bad: New upgrade on voicemail system sucks, make you listen to any old messages first...before it will play the newest message...the older voicemail was alot betterSummary: I get alot of voice mail, and having to listen to old messages first everytime I check my newest message is a real problem...and even though I have had great service with them I am willing to try another service provider that has better messaging service.
