User reviews M175C Headset, 2009-01-06 This is my 2nd purchase of the Plantronics M175C headset. The sound quality is excellent and it holds up well in my daily use.
Best headset for my cordless phone I have ever used., 2009-01-06 I have been using a Plantronics headset for 10 years. It is a great headset for hearing who I was talking to without any problems. But it was not good for when I talked. The other person always told me my voice was very faint.
This Plantronics M175C has three settings to amplify my voice and now whoever I talk to can hear my perfectly. There are two other features that are new that I really like too. One is the mute button for when I talk and the other is the volume control for what I hear. The mute allows me to control what the other party can hear, great when I on conference calls and I just want to listen. The other is the volume control in case the other person is talking softly (or has a weak headset). All these features were not on my other/old Plantronics headset; a great improvement to what I have used over the years.
This is a wonderful headset which I recommend to anyone. Very good headset, 2008-11-15 I've used both the M170 and M175C headsets extensively with both cordless and cell phones. The 170 is the same except for lacking a listening volume control and mic mute switch on a pod in the middle of the cord.
Both headsets are comfortable enough to wear all day (with headband), sound great receiving and good transmitting, and have effective noise-cancelling. The 170 is simpler and does not have the volume/mute pod swinging around on the cord, and the 175 adds the convenience of these functions. Over a period of years, the volume control can get scratchy, so the 170 lasts longer.
The main fault of both headsets is that the mic volume isn't quite loud enough, even with the mic switch on max. I'm not even sure why there is a mic switch -- it NEVER needs to be turned down. When the other person has trouble hearing me, I unplug the headset and use the phone directly, and the volume increases noticably for them. This is usually not a problem unless the other person is in a noisy environment, but I wish the headset mic would be as loud as the phone mic. Perhaps this is a side-effect of the noise-cancelling mic feature and would require an amplifier to overcome. If I could buy a battery-powered supplemental mic amp, I would. Plantronics, are you listening?
I'm about to buy another M170 as my old one has died. These headsets have died for me by rough treatment causing damage to the plug or plug wire, or -- on the 175 -- the volume control getting scratchy. Overall, this is a very good headset and the best value I know for the money. Great Headset, 2008-11-10 I connected this headset to my cordless telephone, and it worked very well. It far outperforms the audio quality of "cheapie" headsets I got at Staples and Wal-Mart, and it is more comfortable too. The ear piece has a good cushion. It is not perfect; you cannot talk softly. However, if you speak up, nobody can tell you are using a headset! It certainly beats the option of getting a $200+ special business headset, and I am using this headset daily for business calls. It is a good value and it performs. Wonderful purchase - very pleased, 2008-10-15 What a deal....at least $10 cheaper than in the stores. Great quality and recommend it to anyone.
