Product description

The new scala-700 headset offers the best of all worlds, light-weight and stylish, yet feature-rich and user friendly. It includes all of the advanced features one would expect in a Bluetooth headset, such as voice dial and re-dial, call waiting, conference calling, call reject, and wind and noise reduction, plus unique features that set it apart from other headsets. Multi-Pairing capability allows users to easily switch the headset's connection between paired mobile phones at the touch of a button. Location Buzzer as wireless headsets become smaller, the more comfortable and natural they are to wear. But small items often get lost among the clutter of an office, in a desk, or in clothing. So, we added a buzzing locator device. Users need only to press a button on their mobile phones to activate the locator, which initiates a series of audible tones from the headset until it has been found. Battery Status LEDs just like a mobile phone, a wireless headset too should indicate its charging status. The scala-700 does just that with a press of a button, the scala-700's LEDs instantly display whether it's fully charged (blue), half charged (blue and red) or in immediate need for recharging (red). Wind and Noise Cancellation offers extremely clear audio, even under windy or noisy background conditions. The device's six-level volume range, speaker booster and echo-cancellation technology further enhance the headset's superb audio quality. Voice dial Last-number redial Call waiting Conference call Call reject Talk time - up to 10 hours Standby time - 240 hours Wireless range - up to 33 feet (10 m) Battery type - rechargeable Li-Po Mini-USB charging port for charging via a USB charging cable (not included) or Travel Wall Charger Charging time - 2 to 3 hours Volume - 6 levels, 20 dB range Bluetooth version 1.2 Chip manufacturer - Cambridge Silicone Radio (CSR) Audio Features Echo cancellat

User reviews

  Two units, both DOA, 2008-11-20
First unit would not charge or turn on, unless plugged in. Same problem with the replacement. Even if I got a functioning one now, I'd wonder how long can it possibly be good for.

I've had a SCALA 500 for about 4 years, and it's been just about perfect. I recently dropped it, and the speaker cover and one of the wires have come off, but now I'll be soldering it back together - even after a few weeks of sitting in my "dead electronics" drawer, it is still charged, and works well when the contact is held closed.

Great Value - VERY Pleased, 2008-11-17
I bought the Card Systems Scala 700 headset a few months ago, and I have not regretted it one bit. The headset has a lot of great features.

Pros:
-Very affordable
-Comfortable and easy to wear on either ear
-Quick and easy to link and operate
-Decent range (I can leave my phone in the living room and wander about my apartment without issue)
-Pair-swap feature is amazing. I can have easily switch the connection between my Blackberry and my Playstation3 by simply pressing the rocker button twice.
-Has a "find headset feature" for when you lose it, but this obviously only works when the headset is on
-Great sound, bought incoming and outgoing

Cons:
-Not very stylish, it looks a little bit clumsy to me
-Charger plugin is unique, I cannot share it with other devices
-Can easily get lost, though this problem is shared by all small headsets really

Overall, for the price you pay, it would be extremely tough to beat this headset!

Six weeks and still waiting!, 2008-09-03
Originally ordered this item in late July. First one shipped was defective (wouldn't take a charge). Returned for replacement, which wasn't sent until shipper received defective item back. Second item was also defective - same problem. I requested prepaid shipping and asked that a replacement be sent right away. The initial shipping charge was refunded, but it's ten days later and I still don't have the item.

Can't evaluate the product yet, but getting a hold of it has been a nightmare!

  I purchased 2, mixed reviews...., 2008-08-17
I bought 2 of these ear pieces. Mine works fine, but my girlfriend's doesn't work at all. I plan on returning it and getting another one because I like the small size and the easy set up of the Cardo 700. I upgraded from the Cardo 500 that I bought in March of 2007 (I still use it to this day- a great buy) and the 500 has worked through all sorts of weather and conditions (I'm a police officer and a member of the Air National Guard.)

All in all, if you get one that works, it's great.

  Bluetooth, 2008-08-17
I have tried 4 different bluetooth models/makes. Some in the $25 range all the way up to $100. The bottom line is fit and sound. I have not found one that has both benefits, and I have had one just quit. This model while functional and easy to use was floppy on the ear and one of my least favorites. It has been frustrating, when most of the cell phones are free or nearly so and the bluetooth sets while not that expensive, are such a small piece of hardware for the price. Not pleased. I think it is the latest rip off in the personal electronics market.

Blurry Video of the G2 (Kogan Agora Android phone) in Action

    Kogan Agora in Action

I hope I didn't mislead you with that title. This is not the mythical "G2," as in T-Mobile's G1 successor. This is, however, the "G2" as in the second Google Android phone to hit the market. Kogan's Agora and Agora Pro run Android and are set to ship at the end of this month. Here's some rather poor footage of what looks to be a rather awesome phone in action. I found this clip, I didn't shoot it - the video comes from YouTube user...

    iPhone as heart/cardio monitor

I should exercise. No, really — I need to back off from the keyboard, take the Twinkie out of my mouth and go for a run or something. I should, but I don’t. Working out has never given me big results, so I simply stopped. That I’m not 200 lbs by now is a factor of genetics (thanks, Mom and Dad!) and decent nutrition (minus the occasional junk food jones). Still, walking to the grocery store and getting lapped by the senior citizens in my hood is...

    iPhone slideshows, Keynote app

Feeling let down about the keynote address at MacWorld? Yeah, me too. Phil Schiller did a decent job, but he’s not the showman that Steve Jobs is. And the biggest phone-related news had to do with DRM-free tunes and 3G music downloads. (While a step in the right direction, it’s certainly not game-changing — after all, Amazon has had DRM-less tunes for ages). Through all this, however, it may be easy to overlook that there were a couple of kinda...

In Korean households, New Year’s day is a time for family. We spend the first of the year together, eating a traditional soup called Duk Kuk, a rice cake dish with savory broth.
