User reviews This charger is nifty!, 2009-01-04 I remember when I was in the process of ordering this charging pod I had read a review from a guy who was complaining about the gray color looking pink. At first I thought he was crazy but when I got mine, that was the first thing I looked for, haha.
It definitely does have a very light pink touch to it but it is so minimal you will hardly notice it... maybe that guy and I are just crazy, haha.
The performance is great, however! You connect your wall charger to the back of the dock, and place your blackberry in a stand-up position and it starts to charge! It really is quite simple and looks every so stylish. I love it.
There is no light different to tell you it is done charging, but that is the only complaint I have for this charging pod. :) Exactly what we needed, 2009-01-04 My daughter recently received a Blackberry Pearl 8100 as a hand me down from a family member. Unfortunately we realized immediately that it would not take a charge from the standard side usb plug, so this was our solution. We received it quickly, plugged it in, docked the phone and it charged wonderfully. My daughter doesn't seem to care about the light that stays on, as she is just happy to have her phone charging. Illuminated insignia ruins it, 2008-12-17 First off, it works well. It is a solid, well-made piece that does it's job of charging the phone. It is easy to place the phone in and hard to tip the phone over once in the dock. Unlike some of the other reviewers, the unit I received was definitely silver and not pink.
However, I decided to place this dock on the nightstand next to my bed at night as I'm sure many others plan to do. Unfortunately, the blackberry insignia on the dock shines an extremely bright white light. There is also no way to turn it off and it ends up illuminating the entire room. It is even lit up when the phone is not on the charging unit.
For anyone planning on using this in another room rather than where they sleep or who have no problem sleeping with light in the room, it's a great device. For everyone else, a simple on/off switch for the light would have made this dock excellent. The lack of one ruins it for me though. Get a charger, sync cable, ac adapter and extra battery holder, 2008-12-05 [.......]
I went with the following charger fro an Amazon 3rd Party for 17 bucks does it all:
Blackberry Pearl 8130 Desktop Charger comes with an AC adaptor, a docking cradle and an USB data cable. It allows you charge your cell phone on the cradle with the USB data cable, and charge the extra battery with the AC adaptor. The USB data cable can sync info between your PC and your Blackberry cell phone as well. 3 functions in 1 Does what it's supposed to, 2008-11-19 It looks nice, it fits my Pearl even with BodyGuardz on the phone. I just wish the BB logo wouldn't be illuminated the entire time.
