User reviews BlueAnt Z9, 2008-10-06 Works well. I'm very happy with it. Everyone says they can hear me clearly when I use it and I understand clarity is the big issue with blue tooth systems.
It is comfortable to wear. I often forget that I have it on. Used Product, 2008-09-23 We ordered this product with the impression and knowledge that it was a brand new product. When we got the z9 bluetooth headset it was not in the original box and it had been used. In great shape and it probably would have been o.k. to use but we wanted a brand new one. So if it isn't brand new just state that on the page. Best bluetooth headset (yet), 2008-09-20 Ok, for the purpose of full disclosure, the negatives first. The earpiece needs work - BlueAnt can take lessons from Plantronics there. The earpiece unthreaded itself and disappeared within the first week or so. Good news is that I called BlueAnt and they mailed me a replacement the same day. No charge :)
More good news - I discovered that one of my old Jabra gelcaps fits really well and it's more comfortable to wear than the "official" earpiece.
This headset is the only one I've owned (5th one) that my mother had no complaints about hearing me. The acid test for clarity is my mom - and the BlueAnt passed.
It doesn't do well with wind noise but not a single bluetooth does. One thing I love about this headset is that its firmware is upgradeable. I've already done it (with a few hiccups but BlueAnt's technical support is superb).
I was at the Seahawks game and talked with my wife on the headset - she could hear me clearly (although it was so noisy I had a difficult time hearing her). I switched it to "voice isolation max" while I was pulling some noisy toters over rough asphalt while speaking with a friend and was told that my voice was totally clear.
Here's the clincher - shortly after I got the BlueAnt I was speaking with one of my consultants. I asked him if he could hear me OK because I was using a new bluetooth. He couldn't believe that I was using a headset, asked me what I was using, and ordered a BlueAnt immediately! Really?, 2008-09-19 I saw so many great reviews on this device, and the price was great, so I purchased it. There is a lot to like about it. Easy to pair. Comfortable and lightweight. I even like the clip to carry it.
The problem? Everyone complains about the audio quality. The adjectives I hear most are "Tin Can" "Too midrangey", but above all, business clients are saying "Call me back from a land line". THIS is unacceptable.
I had a Jawbone for 2 years previous to this. It was uncomfortable and expensive, but nobody ever complained about the audio quality.
Problem with earbud!, 2008-09-19 This headset is excellent, BUT it has a very serious problem with the earbud. After using it on a daily basis for about 4 months, the earbud made of rubber just disintegrated!
While this part is replaceable (in a cost of 10$), there's only one online store in the US selling it and they don't have this part for over a month.
While still useable it is very uncomfortable for ongoing use. I hate to do it but I will need to find myself a new headset. I would expect that with this price tag it will last for more than 4 months.
