One day before its retail launch, UPS delivered Verizon Wireless' BlackBerry Curve 8530 to my doorstep. I've been working with it all morning, and as the replacement to the Curve 8330, I'm very pleased with it. It's a needed stepping stone in the BlackBerry line, and I'm excited that it's joining the ranks at Verizon (with Sprint getting it soon).
Admittedly, I was a bit upset that I didn't get the "smoky violet" color. Just... Beyond the DROID and DROID Eris, Verizon’s LG Chocolate Touch, BlackBerry Curve 8530 and Samsung Convoy have also become bona fide. The carrier announced official launch dates for these additions to the lineup, including: LG Chocolate Touch (November 5, $79.99 after $50 MIR)This music-oriented phone offers Dolby Mobile, so users can customize audio prefs to crank the bass or clarity, in addition to a slew of audio-related features.

Despite previous rumors marking the BlackBerry Curve 8530 as the "Curve2," it appears that Verizon opted to keep it as-is. A welcome addition to the carrier's hoiday lineup, the 8530 was announced this morning, and is slated to replace the aging Curve 8330. The 8530 contains a 320 x 240 display, EVDO, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 2.0-megapixel camera, and RIM's new trackpad solution. Launching in "Black" and "Smoky Violet," the Curve... To be honest, my reaction to this news was “Huh? What’s the Desire?” Well, no wonder. There haven’t been a whole lot of details on this device yet. All that’s known about this enigmatic handset is that it popped up on VZW’s system earlier this month. So call it... Another day, another BlackBerry rumor. Or so it seems.Leaked screenshots are typically a sign of good things to come, and according to the above photo of Verizon's internal database, we could be seeing the BlackBerry Curve 8530 soon. Equipped with Wi-Fi, it looks as if the device will debut in black and lavender. As a refresher, the specs are below - and if you're considering the device, be sure to read my review of the Curve... With the 8520 landing on T-Mobile next month, I knew that it would only be a matter of time before a CDMA version was spotted - though the speed at which it happened surprised me. The 8530 will feature Wi-Fi (which falls in line with Verizon's promise to include the technology on forthcoming devices), 3G, a QWERTY keyboard, OS 5.0, and a 2 megapixel camera. Good news for Verizon customers, and a welcome fit into the carrier's...
