Ryan goes hands on with the newest Sidekick for T-Mobile & has to figure out how to use the trackball. Unboxing the brand-new Sidekick - the T-Mobile Sidekick 2008. It's not called the "Gekko" after all, but it does feature interchangeable shells that let you customize the look. This new Sidekick also has a 2MP camera with video capture, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and lots more worth checking out. Here's a lesson in how to be a tech blogger: First, pay attention. Second, learn to add. Third, play a whole bunch of connect the dotsfor practice. Huh?
Ijust got a press release from T-Mobile hyping up their 2009 GRAMMY®Celebration Concert Tour presented by T-Mobile® Sidekick®. The firstconcert is April 14 out here in San Francisco. After I finishedhitting my T-Mo PR contact up for some tickets to the... Well, well, well, what do we have here? 2009 is certainly shaping up to be a great year for device launches on T-Mobile, and it looks like a new Sidekick will be sliding into the lineup. Sporting a fresh redesign, it will offer 3G and GPS connectivity, along with a 3.2 megapixel camera, 3.2-inch WVGA screen and a microSD card slot for expansion purposes. Social butterflies, worry not – according to the leaked product fact... Do you ever want to select text and do things with it like you do one your computer? To highlight text on a sidekick, hold shift and use the trackball or d-pad to select text. Then, you can use all the same codes you use on your computer to edit text on your sidekick. for example, press menu (3 lines) and C at the same time to copy, or v to paste. Even Z to undo! its great! bad news phonekid the sidekick lx 09 is coming out this month as well as the g2 shortly afterwards
g1: wait g2 coming very soon unless you like slide qwerty like me
sidekick: absolutely must wait the sidekcik lx 09 is awesome and coming middle of april
Behold: a decent touch screen phone with a nice camera and many entry level features
Verdict: Wait and test out the g2 and sidekick lx 2009 or if you really need a phone get the behold the sidekick 08 is great i switched to the g1 non stop freezing but i got my sidekick back and thats the best thing thats ever happened to me 1. a new sidekick is coming out so if you really want it you may want to check it out
2. the gravity is pretty nice but the new sidekick is also, it will come out soon
I got a suggestion...I'd go with the Gravity honestly because of the fact that my friend recently bought a sidekick and the screen broke when she opened it, and it like..flew across the room. The Samsung Gravity has a more sturdy flip. I'm not saying sidekick sucks but Im just saying that I recommend the gravity. I ordered a Samsung Gravity a couple of days ago, and I'm reeeeally excited to get it. ... i would go with the sk08 because it really is thinner. so it would be easier to fit inside your pocket. the sk08 and the lx are pretty much the same besides the size comparison, and the sk08 has those customizable "shells" (covers) that you can put on your sk. the sk08 is also a lot cheaper than the lx. and the lx does not have fm radio. go for the sk08.~aznlilsaint I got a pair of Gravitys (Gravities?) for my kids, instead of Sidekick 08s because they're cheaper and meet their needs better. With the Sidekick you need the Sidekick data plan. My kids don't browse the web or download anything on their phones, so they don't need a phone that requires a data plan. I'm not sure how the web browsers compare, but I'd guess the Sidekick browser is better than the Gravity. I think there must be other features the... Hey Noah(PhoneDog LLC), This is my entry for the Phone Tips & Tricks ContestCONTROL= THREE LINE CORNER BUTTON1) Enter the web browser on the sidekick, and press (CONTROL)+SHIFT+T. This gives you full-screen web browsing.
2) Secret "SnowBored" game. Press (CONTROL) and click settings, scroll
all the way down to "About Sidekick". After clicking press, Three Line
Button+SHIFT+ALT+8, all together.3) Screenshot. To obtain a screenshot, press... The sidekick may look "cool" but trust me Get the GRAVITY!!! i got a sidekick and i liked it but you could not set a picture as a wallpaper!
you couldnt download ringtones from anywhere but t-mobile and it is expensive!!!
you have to flip it open constantly!
it isnt that sturdy!
i have a gravity now and it is amazing get the gravity! (its cheaper too!) You HAVE to get a data plan for the G1, which is stupid. Its between the G1 and Behold, because sidekick 08 sucks. Behold is obviously sleeker and sexier. The G1 has a real keyboard, not just virtual, but the Beholds virtual keyboard is great. Behold has bigger screen and better camera. I have the Behold and I love it, and my friend has the G1...He thinks his phone is better then mine, but hes in denial. the only thing better on the G1 is the... Well, the G1, of course. Sidekicks are... lame, and the flip/slide mechanism is annoying. The Behold is cool, but it's not as adaptable as the G1. It also doesn't have a mechanical keyboard.
