Cell phones to avoid: Motorola V170/V171The Motorola V171 is just a dated phone that has problems with locking up on the user requiring the removal of the battery to reset the phone. The phone also has no external caller id.
Most carries have discontinued selling the phone or is nearing its end of life phase. One of the main reasons to avoid the 171 is the lack of accessories; namely a car charger. You will have better luck finding “ The Lost Arc” than finding a car charger at your local dealer. All about Our fancy algorithm says this stuff is related...Friday, February 16, 2007I've had a V170 for 3 years and never had one single problem with it. I carry it daily and work in construction. It doesn't have any easy life, but I do not abuse it, either. My son has had a v170 one a year and the flip top won't close straight and now the display screen won't light up. He has obviously mistreated the phone. My daughter has one also that is in constant use and has had zero probs with it. These are good phones if they are cared for and not abused. Saturday, February 03, 2007This phone should come with a self distruct message. The phone lasted - no joke - 2 months before everything started to fall apart or simply not work. First the port where you charge the phone started to break so I was only able to charge the phone by taping the cable to the phone. Next the hinge broke apart after falling off a table onto the "carpeted" floor. Then the display wouldn't come on umless you shook the phone. Even when the phone was new it still had the worst reception of any phone I have every used. Finally I just decided it would be better to throw the phone in a lake and exercise my insurance!!! |
