Nokia n91 Gray

This gets a nod more as a proof-of-concept than a phone you'd actually want to own.  Sporting a rare 3.5mm headphone jack and a 4GB hard drive alongside Wi-FI connectivity and a 2MP camera, the N91 can do everything - on paper, at least.  Problem is this phone is a beast, at 113 x 55 x 22mm and some 164g.  Now that flash memory is available in capacities 4GB and greater, maybe Nokia will release a streamlined N91.  Or maybe the N95 plus a big memory card will be the phone everyone wished the N91 was.
SEE ALSO: Samsung SGH-i300, also with built-in 4GB hard drive.

Nokia n91 Gray Introduction & Design

Nokia n91 Grey in-depth review - Introduction & Design

Any handset make with a music phone on the market will now have to face the inevitable comparison to a certain computer company's newly unveiled entry into the mobile marketplace.  However as flashy as the iPhone looks to be, companies like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, and LG have been equipping cell phones with digital music players for quite awhile now.  Nokia's N91 is something of a breakthrough product in that its one of the first...
Nokia n91 Gray Features

Nokia n91 Grey in-depth review - Features

All of Nokia's N-Series handsets are multimedia monsters.  The N91 is the most music-centric of the phones, but still retains the smartphone functionality of all Series 60 Symbian devices.  The N91's music player does basically everything you'd want a digital music player to do - with the exception of displaying album art and certain flavors of copy-protected tracks.  The N91 can handle mp3, AAC/eAAC+, WMA and FM stereo audio,...
Nokia n91 Gray Display & Audio

Nokia n91 Grey in-depth review - Display & Audio

The display on the N91 is good, but pales in comparison to screens found on other handsets in its price range, including those in Nokia's own N-Series.  I'm not quite sure why Nokia built the N91 with a 176 x 208 display when they'd already released the N80 with an ultra-high resolution of 352 x 416.  Reading text and viewing icons, images, and videos on the N91 is fine, but not on par with the experience yielded by the N80 or even...
Nokia n91 Gray Messaging, Internet & Connectivity

Nokia n91 Grey in-depth review - Messaging, Internet & Connectivity

Like other Series 60 devices, the N91 has support for SMS, MMS, and IM messaging.  Messaging is available through cellular service as well as WiFi WLAN networks.  Use of the pre-installed IM client requires a bit more configuration than what's necessary on your standard T-Mobile or Cingular branded phone, but the third-party Agile Messenger client for S60 provides "off the shelf" support for AOL, Yahoo!, MSN, and ICQ instant messaging....
Nokia n91 Gray Conclusion

Nokia n91 Grey in-depth review - Conclusion

Things change quickly in the world of cellular telephones.  When the Nokia N91 was first announced just a year and a half ago, it was revolutionary for packing a staggering 4 GB of storage space into a mobile handset.  What you gave up in terms of form you got back in spades with one of the first phones that could truly double as a music player you could load up with an iPod-esque quantity of songs. Nowadays four gigs isn't even...

Omnia: Is Samsung bringing the Omnia to Verizon?

    Omnia for Verizon?

This is an interesting turn of events, if it proves to be true.  With all of the speculation about if and when Samsung would bring their Windows Mobile powerhouse, the Omnia, to AT&T, nobody stopped to think about a CDMA version of the device.  Nobody, it seems, except Samsung and Verizon Wireless.According to this rebate form posted on HowardForums and later found on Engadget Mobile, Big Red is prepping a VZW-branded Omnia to...

Krave: Motorola launches Verizon Krave ZN4 Touchscreen Flip Phone

    MOTO Krave ZN4

I'm "at" the Motorola Virtual Press Conference where they're launching the Krave ZN4 for Verizon.  No surprise here, as this device was leaked far and wide.  But it still sounds pretty interesting - it's a flip phone with a touchscreen and an "interactive flip."  Apparently the clear plastic flip cover has touch controls so you can access frequently used functions without opening the device up. Krave looks like it's going to...

    Mini-Review: BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 - T-Mobile

    Mini-Review: BlackBerry 8220

The first ever flip BlackBerry is a winner, so long as you play to its strengths.  While the 8220 is very large for a modern day flip phone, it's lightweight and slick looking enough to trick you into thinking it's a little smaller than it really is.  I've had the 8220 for just under a week now, and I very quickly grew used to carrying it around in my pocket.  No, it's not as thin as a RAZR or as small as a low-end sliderphone,...

Better Signal: Great tips and tricks for Verizon devices

    Better Signal: Verizon

Lane Jensen in Oregon here and I have a great trick that works for all Verizon phones to get better signal. First, you need to be within about a 5-10 mile radius of where you are going to use your phone the most. Secondly, instead of dialing the normal *228 for activation, dial *22899 and it will take you instantly to the programming music and update your phone. No more having to go through the prompt and listening to the same old voice saying,...
