Danger, Danger: New Sidekicks, Mobile MySpace Coming
A growing number of reports point to new handhelds coming from Sidekick-maker Danger in the next year. Most likely more than two new models are on tap, both from SK 1/2/3 manufacturer Sharp and Motorola, which means QWERTY-loving consumers may have some interesting choices in the coming months.
The Sidekick 4, Slide, LX, and LE have all been tossed around the Web as possible/probably forthcoming model names, with various renderings and specs accompanying the reports. Check the link below for more information and speculation.
Additionally, reports have surfaced that mobile MySpace will be coming to SK3 and SK iD users in the short-term, and will also come pre-installed on the forthcoming "Zante" (a code name for one of those new SKs). The Slashphone report includes renderings/screenshots of a MySpace app running on an SK3-style interface, and makes no bones about Danger and T-Mobile's intent to get a piece of a market currently owned by Helio.

ROKR you like a Hurricane. Moto's new ROKR E8 features a morphing keypad, touch sensitive nav wheel, and 2MP camera. It's a T-Mobile exclusive. Hello MOTO. The new Motorola phone for AT&T is the Z9, a sliderphone with a jewel like finish houses integrated GPS, a music player, video share services, and much more. Check it out behind the scenes at CTIA '08. Hello, MOTO. Come inside Motorola's booth at CTIA 2008 in Las Vegas, and check out the new Z9 slider and the ROKR E8 music phone ... which we really think maybe might be coming to T-Mobile in the US before too long. We hope so, anyway. Noah from PhoneDog.com live from CES 2008 in Las Vegas. Hands-on with MOTO's two new handsets. The Z10 is a smartphone with amazing video editing capabilities, and the ROKR E8 changes its keypad depending on what mode you're using.
Here is a quick video preview of the Motorola's new ROKR U9. Although it sports a "PEBL" esque form factor it still manages to distinguish itself through its new UI, advanced music player and external touch controls Part 1 of Noah's Motorola RAZR2 V9m cell phone review. A first introduction to this unique and full featured handset, straight out of the box.
Quick update from the "fighting to keep up with the big boys" front: Word is that the MOTO ZN5 cameraphone is in fact coming to T-Mobile USA and is slated for a Q4 '08 launch. The first by-product of Motorola's partnership with Kodak will sport a 5MP camera, and has garnered some positive first impressions in the UK, as I reported a few weeks back. The ZN5 will also feature integrated Wi-Fi with support for T-Mobile's HotSpot@Home UMA calling service. And there's a fresh new... On the one hand, this is a China-only release for now. On the other hand, the MING series has always been one of MOTO's most interesting lines, and there have been rumors lately about a US-bound MING later this year. So I think it's worth a mention: Motorola unleashed the MING A1600 and A1800 along with the MOTO A810 today. Excerpt from the press release:BEIJING, China – 8 July 2008 – Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT), a global leader in mobile communications, today launched... CNET UK's tech blog, "Crave," posted a hands-on with Motorola's new "Best in the World!" cameraphone, the ZN5. While the Nokia N82 might have something to say about that Best in the World title, Crave seems to really be liking their time with this first by-product of Moto's collaboration with imaging giant Kodak.
While Crave didn't go so far as to actually download and view any of the 5MP photos they took with ZN5 (seems this was a restricted hands-on, and not a full review... If you can't get 3G at least you can get some cool music phones. First T-Mobile launched the low-end but entirely capable Nokia XpressMusic 5310, and now they've unleashed the Motorola ROKR E8. I was pretty impressed by the E8 when I played with it at CES in January. The "ModeShift" morphing keypad is a pretty clever way of offering context-sensitive controls and menus on a non-touchscreen phone, and the music player looked pretty nice. Think of the E8 as a higher-end... Motorola today announced the MOTO Z5 ZINE handset, a cameraphone developed in conjunction with Kodak. The Z5 features a 5MP camera with a Xenon flash, digital zoom, and video capture (though video is limited to 15 fps). The ZN5 will also pack WiFi and one-touch access to the Kodak Gallery for online photos sharing. MOTO's also claming the ZN5 has "one of the fastest click-to-click times available for 5 megapixel camera phones."
A quad-band GSM device with EDGE support... Just a few quick updates for you Verizon fans tired of all the Instinct this, iPhone that talk as of late ... LG Dare may
be available as soon as June 26th (next Thursday) via online sales.
July 3rd is the date still being kicked around for availability in
stores. No pricing info has surfaced yet ... just lots of wild
speculation and a $50 mail-in rebate form kicking around the Web.
There's also talk that, like the Samsung Flipshot, the Dare's 3.2MP
camera will have...
