HTC Victor: Touch Diamond and Touch Pro Coming to Sprint and VerizonHave you checked out our first-look video of HTC's Touch Diamond smartphone? Did you ignore it because it's not available through a US Carrier just yet? Well, you might want to take another look as PhoneArena's reporting that both Sprint and Verizon Wireless will be launching branded CDMA versions of the device within the next few months. And, even better, both carriers should also be picking up the HTC Touch Pro - Touch Diamond's QWERTY-packing sibling - as well. According to PhoneArena, Sprint's Touch Diamond will be called the HTC Victor and run on a 528MHz Qualcomm processor, while Verizon will carry the HTC Diamond, to be built around a 400MHz chip. The Sprint version reportedly will also feature twice the RAM (256 vs 128 MB) as the VZW variant, and also will pack an accelerometer, Rev. A EV-DO data, and an alumnium body. Word is that Sprint will launch the Victor as soon as September 2nd of this year. It will probably come out in September, but remember when the the Samsung I325 came out they didn't advertise that at all. Nor did they advertise the Mogul. This phone is going to be expensive and all major carriers will have a version of this phone. So What sprint is doing is Keeping up with the jones'. Somthing they should have done a long time ago. These two phones are going to be the last major smartphone released before the google android phones come out. Saturday, August 16, 2008OH YEAH!!! Besides being an awsome sprint phone that I've been waiting for, it is better than verizons. I've been holding on to my phone for about a year and I haven't renewed the contract since I've been waiting for a good phone to come out. THIS IS IT!!! Sunday, August 10, 2008i doubt its gonna hit as soon as september 2nd, i work at a sprint store and we havent been informed nor has there been any advertising, in the quarter we had with the instinct i phone 3g this phone has to be advertised just as much if it plans on succeeding Wednesday, August 06, 2008@Kevin: Here you go - http://www.phonedog.com/cell-phone-videos/htc-touch-diamond-hands-on-first-review.aspx Wednesday, August 06, 2008i cant wait till it comes out...i just wish i had a bigger screen... Wednesday, August 06, 2008Any idea on Pricing? My 700P needs replacing!! Wednesday, August 06, 2008yay!!!!! i am so excited! let us know when a set date is set. i want it with sprint. i have been holding out on getting a phone b/c i dont like the instinct! im so excited!!! ima go back and watch that video again Tuesday, August 05, 2008Why does Verizon always throttle back on the specs of their phones?! It seems that they consistently have lower camera resolutions, processor speeds, etc. than their Sprint/T-Mobile/AT&T counterparts. If the specs on these new HTC's are correct, Verizon's version will be half the phone as its Sprint brother. Why?!!!! Tuesday, August 05, 2008Do you think it will be with At&t since it has a GSM version? Tuesday, August 05, 2008 Tuesday, August 05, 2008I looked through your old videos, back to April, and could not find the first-look vid on the Touch Diamond that you mention. How about a link? I was just wondering if you heard any whispers when the Touch HD will be coming to the US and if so which carrier. From the stuff I've seen I love it but if the wait is too long (say over 6 months) I'll just settle for the Touch Pro. Thanks! A. I'm amped up about the Touch HD, as well. So far there's no word - or even whispering - about a US carrier. I know HTC is interested in bringing...Top 5: The Top 5 Phones I've Actually UsedTwo Top 5 lists today. Yesterday at this time I also didn't feel good. That was because I partied too much the night before. Happy hour with a few industry friends, then a press party, Nokia party, Verizon party ... these things add up. Today I don't feel good because I actually worked the show yesterday. And while I kept the partying to a healthy minimum last night and got...CTIA Fall '08: Hands-on with the HTC Touch ProThis is gonna be quick, as we've actually got a date with HTC in 20 minutes, at which time we'll hopefully get a little cozier with the Touch Pro and report back to you (ahem, with video, I hope). But I got my mitts on a working Touch Pro in Microsoft's booth and I like it. A lot.
