Mobile euphemismsNot a day goes by that I don't check my phone hysterically from morning 'til night. I love the thing! It's sleek, streamlined, trim, thin, glossy and silky, even. Whatever you like to call your own phone, there's always that one name that'll always stick with it: the manufacturer's.
Now these names have their...differences. The differences between the companies' naming styles is almost a reflection of society today, in fact. For instance, Sony Ericsson are the Preps of the phone world: Bold colors, bold features. But the names themselves? But Sony Ericsson and Motorola don't have the best euphemisms in my book — nothing compares to LG. Nothing, actually, degrades - I mean, "challenges" — my masculinity more than LG's phone names. Why? How could the "Life's Good" company possibly make me feel like a girly-man amongst my friends? One reason: feminine phone names. Think about it for a moment. You've got the enV, the Glimmer, the Rumor, the Venus, the Serena...err, Shine... and of course, the Chocolate! If you're a guy, imagine being around your friends say, after a movie. Ladies, you may love your LG phone, as do I. Please, though, do us all a favor. If a man in your life owns an LG or some other cell phone with a less than masculine name, reassure him that he's still a man in your eyes, despite his womanly mobile device.
All about Sunday, July 27, 2008lol .... Friday, July 25, 2008Don't these companies have marketing departments and focus groups that are supposed to look into these types of issues 'before' the product is released? Perhaps the goal was to maybe focus on women for these particular phones? Maybe something was just lost in translation from LG (Korean company) to the US domestic market? Who knows, but it is true. I don't think I could rock a 'Venus'. ;) Thursday, July 24, 2008and the lg prada

I lose out on the early morning news announcements sometimes since I'm three hours behind the East Coast here in California. Then again, while you East Coasters are settling in at your desks I'm just barely getting out of bed. Ha ha.LG's gone and joined the 8 megapixel cameraphone arms race with the official announcement of the KC910, which I'm unofficially calling the Viewty...Xperia: SE releases development kit for Xperia panelsHot on the heels of vehemently denying any delays whatsoever to the forthcoming launch of the flagship Xperia X1 smartphone, Sony Ericsson has released a Software Development Kit for X1 panels. Voyager Titanium is a sharp-looking phone and it basically works like the original, save the additions of Visual Voicemail and the Rhapsody music service. Visual Voicemail works pretty well on first blush, though you'll be paying a few bucks more on your VZW bill each month to use it. Upgrades aside, my feelings...Drama: Potential Xperia X1 Delay and Corporate Spin-Off for Sony Ericsson? The hard times continue for Sony Ericsson. First comes Sony CEO (Sir) Howard Stringer's recent comments to Reuters about the future of his company's joint venture with cell phone maker Ericsson. "We have to work together again as we did two years ago. Or the joint venture will have to find its own solution," Stringer said. Ouch. That translates to "Shape up or ship out, Ericsson," so far as I can tell. Then came word...Tips & tricks: Motorola Q need to know tipsMp3 ringtones Connect your Motorola Q to your PC using a USB cable Open Active Sync and click the my windows mobile icon Open the application data folder Then click the sounds folder Now find a song or sound in the mp3 format and drag it into the sounds folder Now disconnect the motorola Q from the computer Navigate to the settings menu inside the start button Then find the sounds icon and click it then find the ringtone menu Now...DareFirst of all, STOP SAYING GET THE GLYDE! because the touch screen on that phone is so finiky and unresponsive! But i would get the Dare because it is on the amazing Verizon Network, and i like the all around look better than the Instinct. but then again it is a personal chioce. If you need a phone more for work (e-mail, calendar, etc.) then get the instinct, but if not, get the Dare.Hope this helps...Re: LG Dare or Samsung Instinctdont get either! GET THE GLYDE!!!!!!Absolutely Love LG Dare BUT...Lg Dare is the best phone I've ever used, in spite of it's quirky touchscreen and just ok browser...Learning to control the touch screen is still fun and the browser is adequate enough to not get in the way of my absolutely loving this phone, the way it looks, feels and performs. BUT...LG is noted by many Verizon customers as not always being able to send out voice signals adequately in many areas, resulting in no one being able to hear...Re: New Sony Ericsson AI with 2 GB microdrive??well..cool looking phone..but can't wait for the se c905..:Pcan't afford it but still want to see it in action..i mean..a 8.0 mp cameratoo sweeeetttRe: The LG Dare, awsome phone. Watch out for scratches!I have had it for a week and it is the best phone I have ever had. I am still getting used to the keyboard but I love it so far. The battery life is awesome. I love the camera and I have really used that a ton. I also have a lot of my music on it and It compares to my iPod that I sold. I dont miss it at all. This is an awesome phone and I would for sure buy it all over again. Its worth the money...Re: The LG Dare, awsome phone. Watch out for scratches!Well, I couldn't wait anymore.... I went and purchased an LG Dare. Understanding that this is my first day with this phone..... I absolutley love it!![:D]Re: The LG Dare, awsome phone. Watch out for scratches!I'm in the process of upgrading with Verizon, I initially upgraded to a Voyager, it's an awesome phone, however when attempting to scroll through my contacts on the front touch pad .... Let's just say, it wasn't happening. So I returned it and I'm wondering about the Dare. Got a question for you... Is there a lot of glare on the touch screen, when you use the phone outside? This will be my first none clamshell cell phone and I guess...The LG Dare, awsome phone. Watch out for scratches!I just recently got the LG Dare. This phone is amazing, the best one i have had for verizon so far! I spent alot of money on this phone so i wanted to keep it protected from scratches, dings, knicks, all stuff like that. I have heard about this stuff called Phantomskinz, who had got it on his iphone. I decided i wanted to try this stuff out on my Dare. So i orderd it online and installed it myself. It looks really good, clear, fits like a glove....Re: LG Dare or Samsung InstinctPersonally, i would go for the LG Dare. Hands Down. The camera isn't a big deal, but that is just another thing that makes it better. The screen might be a bit smaller, but the is really crisp and clear on the Dare. I don't like the Instinct as much because it has a kind of metalic look to it. If i weren't in Canada, i would buy the Dare!!!LG Dare or Samsung InstinctI like both of these phones from the reviews on this site. Is either a clear cut better phone then the other? The only advantage I have seen is the better camera on the Dare, but the camera is not that important to me. I have to pick one of the two......which would you pick and why? [H] |
