More on May 6th: Raphael and Diamond coming to Sprint? So this makes things a little more interesting. That photo I mentioned the other day with two mystery HTC devices in it? Engadget thinks we're looking at the HTC Raphael and Diamond, otherwise known as the successors to the Mogul and Touch, respectively.
Engadget's post features some fuzzy pics of what looks to be an internal Sprint document detailing the two new Windows Mobile devices, both with HTC's TouchFlo UI (and, of course, touch screens), and one with a slide-out QWERTY board to boot. If you believe the spy shots, both handsets will offer up 3MP cameras, WiFi, and full-on VGA (640 x 480) displays when they hit Sprint's lineup later this year. We could see Raphael - the QWERTY-packing Mogul replacement - as soon as September, with Diamond to follow in November. If this is true, it begs two additional questions. First, will we also see unlocked GSM variants of both devices, perhaps sold direct to US consumers as part of HTC's freshly inked deal with Best Buy? And second, is this what we're gonna get at that May 6 HTC shindig in London? I can't imagine HTC would announce two new Sprint phones in the UK, so we're either looking at unlocked GSM versions, something entirely different (Android "Dream"?), or both. And what about the new look? Personally, I kind of dig it, though it's hard to tell from these pics. So long as they're not uncomfortable in the hand, I think the square edges on these phones look sleek - nicer than Mogul, for sure. What about y'all? You like Diamond and Raphael - if in fact that's what's pictured here - as the new look of HTC? All about Tuesday, April 29, 2008Yeah, they look pretty sharp. Hopefully there won't be too long of a delay between launch and ship dates. Tuesday, April 29, 2008dangg. i can't wait til they come out. my Mogul's days are numbered. The American market is tightly controlled by the network operators, and half of US phones run on a proprietary standard incompatible with most of the world's networks (CDMA, used by Verizon and Sprint), a combination that's long resulted in a lack of options and innovations for U.S. consumers relative to...Treo 800w: Sprint Smartphone Gets WiFi and Rev. Let me know ......Sprint Roadmap: HTC, BlackBerry, LG, Palm, Sanyo on Tap for SummerA purported "internal Sprint document" is floating around the InterWeb, apparently originating from HowardForums. The image shows Sprint's supposed Q3 '08 New Product roadmap, and is highlighted by the mysterious "MP6950" by HTC, which could be a Touch Dual, Touch Diamond, or even a Touch Pro. The current HTC Touch for Sprint carries the MP6900 model number, so logic would dictate that the 6950 is some sort of successor - I'm guessing Diamond but hoping for Pro. A launch...Touch Diamond: Telus Becomes First to Launch Diamond in North AmericaOh, Canada ... How Sprint customers are jealous of thee. While we here in the States are all banking on a Sprint version of the HTC Touch Diamond before too long, our friends to the north don't have to wait much longer.
