New Dallas/Fort Worth Area Wireless Service Provider MetroPCS Appoints Executives

DALLAS – March 15, 2006 – MetroPCS Communications, Inc., a Dallas-based wireless service provider that allows customers to “pay by the month, not by the minute” announces the appointment of Tom Keys to regional vice president and general manager, Tracy Lange to regional vice president, David Walker to regional vice president of network operations and Andy Smith to regional vice president of finance and operations for the company’s Dallas/Fort Worth area market.

Launching service this spring, MetroPCS will be the only wireless carrier in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to offer a flat rate service with no contract that allows consumers to pay by the month rather than by the minute.

“Our new Dallas/Fort Worth executives each bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the regional team,” said Bob Young, executive vice president of market operations for MetroPCS. “We know they’ll be a large part of our success as we launch our unique flat rate service into the Dallas/Fort Worth market.”

In his new role as regional general manager, Keys will be responsible for overseeing daily market operations including network building, retail store operations, dealer channel relations as well as product development and distribution. Additionally, Keys will serve as the spokesperson for the Dallas/Fort Worth market. Keys brings more than 20 years of senior level sales and marketing experience with an extensive background in new market development. Prior to his position with MetroPCS, he served as the president and chief operating officer for VCP International Inc., a Dallas based wholesale distributor of wireless products. Additionally, Keys has served in various senior level positions leading and managing the national sales and distribution efforts for Weblink Wireless Inc., a leading nationwide wireless messaging provider. His career also includes extensive experience in multi-channel product distribution as well as new product development. Keys holds a master’s degree in communication and organization behavior from Syracuse University.

As regional vice president, Lange will be responsible for sales and distribution for direct stores and indirect sales channels. Additionally, Lange will oversee plans for subscriber growth, churn and retention while administering meeting sales and financial goals as well as sales activity forecasts. Lange brings more than 15 years experience in wireless sales and operations, including five years of owning and operating an indirect sales channel. Her corporate background includes retail and management positions with Cellular One, Cybertel, Ameritech and SprintPCS. Lange holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Louisiana State University.

David Walker joins MetroPCS as regional vice president of network operations, where he will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing and operating the MetroPCS regional wireless network. Walker will ensure day to day operation and stability and manage relationships with all third-party technical vendors such as SBC, Verizon, VeriSign, and others. Walker’s 17 years of experience includes positions at GTE Mobilnet, PrimeCo PCS and AT&T Wireless,focusing on designing, developing, implementing and operating regional wireless networks.  Walker’s background covers various wireless technologies, as well as senior management and operational responsibilities. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

In his new role as regional vice president of finance and operations Andy Smith is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the region, especially as it relates to processes and internal controls. Additionally, Smith is responsible for general oversight of regional operations including employee education and customer support. Smith brings over 20 years experience in accounting, auditing and financial management including 11 years in the
telecommunications industry. Prior to joining MetroPCS, Smith held executive level positions at Education Gateways, National Health Administrators and GTESS Corporation. Smith is a graduate of St. Louis University with an MBA and is a Certified Public Accountant.
