PWN the iPhone: Helio Ocean to drop soon?
Forget the iPhone - this season's real mobile prize might just be the Helio Ocean. And it looks like Helio may be getting close to a full month's jump on the impossible task of stealing some of Cupertino's cell phone thunder.
The Helio Ocean will pack separate slider boards for dialing and texting, as well as 3G data (via Sprint), and a completely redesigned Helio user interface featuring what some claim is the best Web browser ever to grace their sweaty palms. And, of course, there's support for all of that IM, My Space Mobile, and music-listening stuff the kids are so into these days.

It's not like I actually did anything except follow directions and click a few buttons, so take this as a public service announcement and not at all as a declaration of my own personal triumph: I successfully upgraded my-first gen iPhone to the UNLOCKED and JAILBROKEN iPhone software 2.0 thanks to the awesome PwnageTool created by the iphone-dev team.
After download Apple's official software update and the PwnageTool itself, the whole process took less than ten minutes - including a few... The iPhone-dev team's done it again. PwnageTool 2.0.1 has been released to the public, which means folks like me can upgrade our old, unlocked iPhones to the new software at long last.In the words of the team themselves, PwnageTool 2 "jailbreaks and unlocks older iPhones, and jailbreaks iPhone 3Gs and iPod Touches. We only support the 2.0 firmwares." Currently the tool will NOT unlock iPhone 3Gs, and it's Mac only, though there is a Windows method available for the more stout of... Q. Do you know about any of the features the iPhone 3g will have? Do yout think it will be better then the 1st iPhone, b/c i heard the iphone 3G is a cheaper version and its not better then the first. A. At this point you can't buy the first version unless you get it used or off ebay or something - Apple has stopped making and selling it, and... A new version of Google Talk is now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch browsers to let users not only communicate via Gmail but also keep in touch with quick bits via Talk.
Users need to use Safari on iPhone to get to Google Talk. When you navigate away from the page on your web browser, status is set to unavailable, and the session restarts when you return. So, it’s not as integrated as a downloadable app, but it’ll do for a quick fix.

And while I can't read all of the comments on every video, once in awhile I scan through to see what people wish I'd done differently or would do next time in a video (seriously, have you ever tried reading YouTube comments on a regular basis?).Seems like comparison videos are popular, so I'll keep those coming. Seems like Instinct and iPhone are popular, as well, and of course there's the requisite fanbody-dom... Looks like the end is near for Helio and all you Helionauts, I'm sad to say. Ryan Block - the Editor in Chief of Engadget Ryan Block - just reported that Helio store managers are being notified that Virgin will be shuttering the doors on some, or possibly all, of Helio's retail outlets across the country as part of their takeover of the copmany. Furthermore it looks like Virgin will simply absorb all that is Helio, doing away with the Helio brand in the process.
