QWERTY for the rest of us: LG Voyager coming to Sprint and AT&T?

IntoMobile reported on a story in the Electronic Times quoting an LG rep as saying their VZW flagship handset, the VX10000 Voyager, will be coming to AT&T and Sprint in the US later this year.  Considering that the VZW model has sold some 1.1 million units in less than six months, it makes sense that LG would want to milk this cow for all its worth.

The move would necessitate the creation of at least two new variants of the device, since the VX10000 is compatible with VZW's CDMA voice/data network and their MediaFLO-based TV service.  A Sprint version would be a MediaFLO-less CDMA phone while an AT&T model would, of course run on GSM (with or without access to AT&T's new TV service).

On the one hand, the addition of Voyager might seem like direct competition to Sprint's Samsung Instinct and AT&T's LG Vu, both of which were just announced at CTIA Las Vegas.  On the other hand, odds are VZW has a one-year exclusive on Voyager, meaning that Sprint or AT&T versions couldn't ship until late 2008 at the earliest.  By then Instinct and Vu will be months old and, thus, ready to be put out to pasture ... No, seriously, neither Instinct nor Vu features a physical QWERTY board, and some folks really like those actual buttons.  So why not offer consumers a little more choice, right?

env2 or Glyde : Noah Picks the Best New VCAST Messaging Phone
For the past two weeks it's been the same question everywhere I go: enV2 or Glyde?  enV2 or Glyde?  Which should I get, enV2 or Glyde? The honest answer is I can't answer that for you.  You've got to go try both phones for yourself and decide which you like better.  They're so similar in terms of features but different enough in terms of how they look, feel, and work that you really have to play with 'em both in order to decide.  But, hey, I'm the expert (I guess), so...

Top 5 phones Pre-3GSM edition - January 25, 2008
Call it the eye of the storm: CES teased us earlier this month with a few new handsets from Sony Ericsson and Motorola (not to mention the official debut of Nokia's N95 8GB US model), and all sorts of sexy new phones should be unveiled at next month's World Mobility Congress (aka 3GSM) in Barcelona.  And then there's CTIA Las Vegas, which kicks off on the last day of March.  This break in the action seems like a good time for some Top 5 lists.  Here are my picks for the best...

Blog Entry: Upper crust: LG "cannot compete" in the low end market

Upper crust: LG cannot compete in the low end market
LG has announced that they'll turn up their efforts to market high end phones in emerging markets this year, and that they're all but giving up on the lower end of the handset marketplace.  Korea Times reported the story along with the news that the electronics giant launched the Venus-like KF600 handset in Brazil and China. ``We cannot compete with such industry leaders as Nokia and Samsung Electronics with low-priced phones. We have to set our sights on the market with phones worth...
